Anyone have a set of Snarky plans that they would be willing to share??

Cheers!!

Are you looking to clone it, or did you lose something?

Snarky...Snarky...anyone...anyone...Bueller...Bueller???

It looks quite simple to simply make one that is close enough.

I have no idea how to build it in OR, but that can be negated by simply asking someone for a top and side profile and center of gravity for an already flying model. These can likely be obtained through a Google search of images.
Matter of fact, I'll go find some now.

If you have a good mind sim like me, you can guesstimate CP, and start with a smaller scale model, like BT-60 to prove flight worthiness. Then just scale it on up to the 2.2" BT that the Kit uses.

The Kit is available for like $40 on Amazon. I was just looking at it earlier.
I intend to build a BT-80 somewhat snarky type rocket someday. I'll call it the Snarly.

THX TOP!!

Just remembered that I have some Shrox plans from a couple of his other designs (Firefox and Skonkwulf) that I could use for some of the parts makeup.

Tricky part is cutting the scoop and also the rear reverse cut.

I would love to have those templates to save trashing a bunch of tubes.

Cheers!!

My Google searches did'nt turn up much, and the "Gallery" here was the only clean side and top profile views I could find.

Forum Member JP Morgan made a Snarky like clone out of a TLP Kit, but he sold it before he flew it, so there is little if no practical knowledge to be gained from his endeavor other than he has some kit bashing skills.
He does show how he designed the wings/fins pretty well with pictures.
It's actually quite the little build thread.

It did come out pretty sweet!

As far as cutting the "Scoops", I would think that in theory, you could soak the inner wall with CA, then, wearing appropriate safety gear, ie; respirator, googles,..., run the tube on a belt sander til you get the angle you want.
That would rough it, then you could fine tune it by hand with more sanding???

I'm sure someone else here who has actually built one wants to see you build one as bad as I do, and will be along to share their knowledge of how it's done.

Damn it!!!

I have had Snarky on my mind all night, and all sorts of things I'd love to try while building one, but all my building stuff is in storage and my workshop has been entirely disassembled for quite some time now.:(

Had I still been set up to build, I'd be knee deep into it right now.

So many ideas flood through my head when I lay down to rest at night. I even set a notepad and pen next to my bed last night.

One thought I had, to minimize the need for too much nose weight and keep CG forward, was to put the motor as deep as possible, then have some holes in the aft section of fuselage(Gas-Dynamic Stabilization), to negate the Krushnik Effect, as was described in this thread:https://www.rocketryforum.com/showt...ilization&highlight=Gas+Dynamic+Stabilization

The inner wall/exhaust area could be lined with Aluminum tape or a soda can with minimal weight gain.

Looks like I'll have to grab my mechanical pencils and steel rules and start doing some drawings and writing down my design concepts and ideas.

I just might be able to make a small work area, just big enough to knock out a BT-55 or 60 scale version.....

hmmm....

Found this scratch build information today, and it should be helpful in some way, shape or form.
It's for a downscale version, but the information contained therein seems relevant to building this style of rocket.

Thx TOP!!

I think I have gathered enough info to start practicing on some scrap parts I have.

I have been able to use my Firefox templates to approximate the lower scoop.

Everything else should be pretty easy to fabricate.

Definitely a work in progress......

Cheers!!

I've started mine!

Your's looks great!!

I cut a test scoop from a scrap BT80 tonite and it looks like it will work fine.

I will probably start cutting parts from good stuff tomorrow.

I'll use papered balsa for fins so I will have so see if I have enough stock.

We'll see how it goes....

Cheers!!

Based on drawings and tweaking my Firefox templates, I managed to draw all the fins on paper and they look like they will fit.

I will transfer to cardstock and examine further before I commit to wood.

Stay tuned...

Cheers!!

Awesome!

Thanks for starting this thread, as it gave me the inspiration I needed to start building again!

Anxious to see what you come up with!

Well, with some great help from TopRamen (THX!!), some tweaking of a Firefox I built a couple of years ago, and a bunch of spare parts, I managed to cobble together some semblance of a Snarky.

It is going together pretty well, all things considered.

Cheers!!

WOW!:surprised:

Once you got started you went all in!

Everything looks great!!!:clap::cheers:

It looks like it is too late but I have access to my Snarky plans now. Let me know if they would still be helpful.

A bit more progress, baffle and fins on.

I used 1/16 balsa strips to better align the scoop.

Cheers!!
