Yay! I just sent email to Dave Kenyon about my plan to fly Vulcan on H45 and I140. Figured I'd mention it here as well. I expect both flights to stay well below 1,000'.

Ari.

I still have not been able to get approval for my I345 on a proven rocket to under 2000 feet.

How long ago did you submit your request?

I think it was late October. It does not matter much now, because I wanted to go to November and December launches, but I will not be able to make January.

Still, it tells on his responsiveness to requests for high power launches. What confidence does that instill on anybody wanting to fly a high power motor at a SARG launch?

Yes, that is why I brought it up.

Interesting, David replied to me next day and approved. What email did you use?

The one from the front page, ends in starstream.net though I would not know if it changed.

FWIW, I never once got email confirmations for HP plans when I flew with SARG at the old field, but I never had a problem checking my flights in.

Ari.

Several years ago SARG had policy about getting approval before launching HP.... then as club matured and was confident about the field, requirement not stickily followed.

With the new field the club wishes to be careful not to upset the landowner or neighbors. So Club wishes to have all HP flights approved to avoid issues.

Tom review this at the November Club meeting at Sierra College.

Wow, the weather forecast sure is fickle. Earlier today, I would have said no chance of a launch Saturday. Now, it says the next three days no rain. No doubt, that'll change a couple more times between now and Saturday.

I heard back from Dave. He says my flights are OK (as long as the weather works, naturally).

Ari.

No joy, launch cancelled due to field conditions. Rescheduled to the 16th. But if you can read a weather report, it doesn't look any better for next Saturday, with rain predicted most the week. Is SARG ever going to hold a launch; doubtful, with El Niño.

TCC seems to be a surer bet for the 16th.

Email I received said launch canceled and next launch is Feb 13th.

Is there a sign-up for these emails on the site? Because the site said the 16th last time I looked.

I'm beginning to think that I am a SARG Jonah. Ever since I got back into rocketry a little over two years ago and was going to attend my first SARG launch at the Pleasant Grove site, SARG lost that site and hasn't held a launch since.

Just checked the sargrocket.org website and there is indeed a rain date listed. Perhaps the decision was revisited after the email was sent.

My my weather app shows rain for next Saturday...

PM me your email addy, Hank, and I'll forward it to the powers that be.

Sent.

Yeah, my weather app has rain Mon, Wed., Fri., and Sat. That leaves no break for the field to drain. At the same time, 2 hours South in Carruthers, there's no rain this week or next week. TCC is more likely to hold a launch.

I am looking forward to attending a SARG launch ... someday!

Me too, lol. I used to attend them from 1999-2001, then took a break until 2013, and that's when they lost their site. Been waiting since then. Maybe in February.

Don't look like a launch is going to happen this month.
