Aloha from the Hawaii Kai Rocketeers! Facebook link: https://www.facebook.com/NARSection781/?fref=nf

Here's my Mean Machine on an F32-6 today at Sandy Beach Park in Honolulu, Hawaii.

I have rebuilt a few times after a few hard landings... I have 29 mm engine mount and used 24 mm F32 engine with tape to fit in engine mount. Will be putting up with F50 and possibly a G in the future after this successful launch... will need to wait for another still day here on the island.

Enjoy!

Mahalo!

Nice flight! How thick are those fins? They look almost to be 1/4" thick!

they are 1/4 inch. i busted the first fins. in hawaii, with our strong tradewinds, rocketeering can be an interesting adventure. so, in order to get rockets down in between the highway and the ocean on days where there are at least a slight breeze, i usually put a pretty good size hole in my parachute for my larger rockets. this gets a heavy rocket down fairly fast. and the first couple times i flew it the tube crumpled and the fins broke. so i epoxied in 2 inner tubes through the lower half of the rocket and i used 1/4 inch balsa which have also been epoxied on.

i've been working on an upscale 2.5x single stage hyperbat with 1/8 ply for fins. when she's ready to go and the conditions are perfect, i will get a video of that first flight up as well.

Fun, fun! Yes, bet its quite a challenge to fly there. Look forward to seeing other flights!

I was going to ask about the wind - every time I've been to Hawaii there's been something between "moderate breeze" to "good kite weather". Way to adapt to the conditions, nice flight!
