This should be a good launch!

MaxQ is talking about a Mile High flight!

I would like to see another G12 RC Glider flight. The last one was pretty exciting! ;)

If you can tell me how to recover it to get the data back - I'd try for a mile. LOL:smile:

As for that G12....It WAS exciting.

I discussed the flight with guys over on the rocket glider section here, and I was advised the G12 is known for an occasional thrust spike....voids in the grain of the G12 that sometimes unexpectedly gives you a sudden burst of acceleration.
It certainly surprised me - I was slowly (so I thought) putting in some down to straighten out the climb.
Next thing I knew it was off like a banshee and doing a loop.
After it straightened out again, I certainly got my share of flight time from the extra altitude.
Think I'll do a couple more F flights before I try a G12 again.

You welcome to some stick time if you like.

Right after you looped, my wife looked over at me and said "So, when are you going to get one of those?", and my son won't stop talking about it. Very cool flight.

Hopefully I won't be on the road and will be able to attend the January launch.

I've been working on the 3D models for a new AV bay design for the 3D printed rocket. After the test flights of the egg finder last launch I'm ready to push things further. Should start printing parts this week, if the weather is perfect I have a motor for a mach+ attempt.

Lets hope for good weather, although I doubt it will be as good as the December launch, 75º was just crazy. Mach+ on that rocket should be great!

The forecast calls for 80% chance of rain late Friday, cloudy Saturday, and 50% rain on Sunday.

You never know about the weather guessers and things always seem to change a lot in 5 to 7 days but standby and check the battlepark.org website. This launch may get postponed a week but we probably won't know until Friday.

If Battlepark is postponed a week it would be the same weekend as the MDRA annual Christmas tree launch.

Just a quick plug to announce that Ben Russell will be demonstrating/flying the new Missile Works RTx/GPS Rocket Telematics System at this launch event (weather permitting).
He's also printed up some trick 3D sleds, so be sure and stop over to have a look at the hardware if you're interested.

I had not planned on going, but seeing this, I have to convince SWMBO that 3 1/2 hours travel to launch a few rockets this weekend is a good idea! :)

Like to see Ben's beta test demo on the new Missile works GPS device.

I'm liking that low wind prediction for Saturday and hopefully it will be low again on Sunday (I can't make Saturday - commitments).
Precip went back up again to 60% Friday - but who knows?
Ceiling/cloud base looks low for high altitude flights.I have some neat projects I can fly low and slow....my upscale Apollo Little BIG Joe II has been restored to flight status and cluster air starts may be in the works.

Lot of two stagers in my que but they may have to wait

Sunday is canceled do to current field conditions and the expected rain this evening. We are looking at rescheduling and will post here and on our website.

I plan on attending the MDRA launch this coming weekend and will have the RTx beta with me.

Ben
