As some of you know, I zippered my 3” PML Bull Puppy this summer on the Friday of LDRS. I launched it on an AT I600R, which I thought had a long delay (14 seconds) for my backup motor eject. However it turned out that it was the medium (10 seconds)...my bad. Motor ejection popped right around the 10 second mark but it was still traveling @ roughly 150ish feet/second! If you ever wondered what Quantum tube looks like with a zipper from the top of the tube down to the CR, separated from the main chute, fell from a mile, and sat in a farmers field for a week of rain, below is the before and after carnage.

After inspecting the damage, it is pretty much limited to the tube and canards. So I ordered the replacement parts and started the rebuild. This brings me to what to do about the paint job. Do I go with the traditional white and decal set or nontraditional colour and or custom decals?

I have seen others in grey and a dark blue, both of which looked nice and unique. So what ideas can you recommend?

I quite liked the original off white you had going with the traditional decals. That color along with the polish you had on that thing really defined the perfection of those famous fillets of yours. Just my opinoin.

Somebody did a bullpup in the WWII navy colors, thread was something about Bridge at Tokyo Ri iirc.

Hey Glenn, I agree the white is clean and definitely looked good, although it started out as white but the "off" white part is just the yellowing of the acrylic enamel :) I may do the same but I thought why not try something different, partly inspired by the following

Yes I saw that one and loved it https://www.rocketryforum.com/showt...o-Ri-quot-PML-Bullpuppy&p=1477119#post1477119

How about red or olive drab? :)

I was considering chrome for mine, but on it's first launch with a base coat of black, it got treed and got some good rash being yanked down. :(

Funny I thought of chrome as well, just to be the brightest object in the sky, but I recently read a thread on chrome paint which turned me off on the idea. Olive drab and even a dark red are a consideration although the olive may be hard to find in the grass!

Whatever you want... What looks good to me, will look bad to others.

Hey Alethins,

Thanks for the reply. The purpose of the question is to hear ideas or inspire ideas, as the forum is full of a lot of really creative and diverse people. That being said if you have any ideas to add I would welcome them.

Do the standard white and yellow.
