I'll admit that the kind words of encouragement from most folks has been very welcome. As for people just wanting free stuff... we'll find out soon enough. :)

Wes

I think you have created a viable and marketable product and should charge a reasonable price for both your intellectual property and product. It takes time and effort to respond to people, money out of pocket to ship goods and tools always fail when you need them the most. Good luck to you with your device and well done, Wes!

Hi, sorry for the delay, I just found your question concerning the fin jig for rockets today.

Sorry - I didn't create any actual drawings, in fact I should have, as I had to re-build it a few times to get it right!

I should tell you I 'borrowed' the idea from a $90 jig I saw on the Apogee website:

    https://www.apogeerockets.com/Building_Supplies/Tools/Guillotine_Fin_Jig

There are some pretty good pictures on there and you can probably recreate something similar from the pictures.

I just replaced all the tube-holding stuff on the bottom with bungee cords and that works well enough for me! Just make sure to cut the wood really precise. I hope you get to read this and I hope it helps!

The Guillotine fin jig is TMacklins design if you shoot him a PM for the low low price of $12 via paypal (iirc) he will send you a copy of the plans to make your own. See post #32 above.

I'm cool with young Matt and I believe I already sent him a set of plans from which he created some 3-D computer graphics. He's a bright young man and will go where no man has gone before.

showed up yesterday thanks, hopefully I will get to try them out early next year when I will have time to build again

OH OH OH no. I wasn't the one who posted that comment. I simply copied that from the blog post referenced above.

However, a few months ago, I did get in contact with Mista' Macklin and got a set of plans from him. :)
Which reminds me. Mr Macklin... I sent you a little something in your email. You may want to look at the attachment :)

Just got mine in the mail today! Can't wait to try them out.

Just opened my mail momentarily, and there they were, not only that, im starting to build a Big Daddy tonight.

Thanks Matt, got it.

Hi Wes,

Wanted to say, I got 'em today!

Looks like something that would be especially useful for multiple fin arrangements (strakes, split fins, two stage designs).

Thanks!

I have to apologize folks. I've been extremely busy these last couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to being able to give this some attention over the holiday break.

Have any of you that got a sample had a chance to use them yet?

Wes

I will be using mine soon. I am in the midst of gluing the scoop on my Snarky and will be trying them out on the vertical fin. I have done a mock up with scrap balsa and tube and I like the simplicity of the design.

Hi Wes,

Recently received fin jig-Thanks!!, I'll now get my builds out of "cold-storage!"

I was gonna try them on my current build and realized that my angle stock is all 1/16"... so it'll have to wait until I get some of the heavier stuff.

I may redesign them with two slots, one for 1/16" and one for 1/8".

Wes

Could you post cad files or drawings with dimensions for those of us who would like to replicate your design?

Hey, PM me your address, I'll send you my set. I don't need them anymore.

They work great btw, I have used them on several of my builds since receiving them last year. An excellent tool for the LPR and MPR builder.

I just stumbled onto this (old) thread. Is anyone still making these? I'd like to have some also and would be willing to pay for them.

I am trying to contact Wes. I have a set that I am willing to share but I feel that I should have his permission before I share them on an open forum.
