RC aircraft, this is my 43% Edge 540 at the Joe Nall fly-in in South Carolina. Playing over the pond.

My wife would say I am an Amateur Astronomer or Avid Stargazer, but I preferred to call myself is Astronomical Voyeur.

Nice Scopes and photos. I've got a Meade 12" SCT, a 4" Mak and an 80mm Tak Apo.

Very well spotted! It is the Nuerburgring Nordschleife, the most fantastic race track in the world and obviously my favorite.
Spa Francorchamps, Belgium would be my second favorite.

I got to drive the 'ring a few years back in an S5. Great track.

Still painting up small men. Here's the latest - James "Logan" Howlett hitting the beach at Normandy, 1944

Raven...that green axe is awesome!!! Semi or full hollow? I see you have a nice jazz style bridge on there.

Glad you're hanging in there qquake!

Nice job on the 1911 Tominus! Is that a 64 Chevy 2?

It's a '63. I didn't build that 1911, just modded it. Here's a target rifle I built:

I'm a sucker for MegaBloks kits, here's an example:

Board games:

Making models for friends:

And many more. Jeez. I really do need to rein this in a bit.

I don't do CNC, because I don't make enough to justify the expense of CNC hardware and the programming. So I carve everything by hand. I haven't done electric guitar bodies since I only make acoustic guitars.

I plum forgot my baby....

A BMW M3 CSL limited edition. Only 1389 where built back in 2003. It was never sold in North America.

Also, who likes to paint Bob Ross style?

This is my first try:

All very intersting! As an amateur astronomer myself, I think I like the star photos best, especially the Trifid! We have a Meade 6" reflector that weighs like 100 pounds that we drag outside when we have time. Most recently the conjunction of Venus and Saturn was very nice. We live on a mountain about 25 miles east of B'ham and have a clear cut view of the ecliptic from rise to set.

The model trucks are great too! Obviously a lot of time put into those. My flyable models are on our website and can be seen there. I've also done some of the other type of modeling (womens clothing) for local department stores but posting those photos here would probably cause a coronary for some members.

You know what? There are some SERIOUSLY talented people on this forum! What an incredible pool of talent!

My wife and I own Historical Woods of America so pen turning is part hobby, part business.
This pen is made of Horse Chestnut from the last of several trees known to have been planted by George Washington.

Wow, I LOVE this! To me, one of the things that go beyond just crafting something is having some history to the materials. Just creating something like that and then realizing the past brings things to a whole new level. One thing I didn't mention in the truck builds in post #1 is that some of the parts were used and likely had a lot of history to them (the tracked truck body was a rusty and really worn pink Tonka toy originally...must have been really played with by some kid(s) and had a lot of fun memories for someone :)).

It's full hollow, though instead of traditional parallel or X bracing glued in that could come loose over time I CNC machined the braces into the underside of the top. They are a hybrid between parallel and X and also incorporate larger bosses for a fixed bridge common to solid bodies instead of a floating bridge typical of hollows.

Braces shouldn't be coming off over time unless you didn't pay attention to humidity when it was glued, or excessive force was applied to the top during use. There's a lot more to woodworking than just physical dimension... though for a semi hollow body where most of the tonal quality comes from the pickup, it wouldn't matter as much (you could just make the braces 1" thick for all intents and purpose). Kinda like those Eastman guitars, they sound bad acoustically but sounds great when plugged in.

I've been playing music since 1964, when I joined my first band. Now, I just dabble in my tiny home studio.

Modular synthesizers. This one is going through some changes that should be complete around October:

This Mellotron with Hammond SK1 on top is currently waiting for its mate to arrive from England:

No studio is complete without a couple of basses:

I've also been training in the martial arts since around 1976. Nowadays, I only practice internal styles like Taijiquan. This video is from an international competition in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province, China, where I won 1st place, beating the Chinese at their own game. The shaky video is from a bad VHS transfer. I don't really do that

Raven - awesome! Thanks for sharing. I bet that thing sounds so nice and thick, esp on that neck pickup. Favorite guitar body style. As you can see in my post, I play a good 'ol basic Ibanez Artcore AS-73. But it sounds so good. Not full hollow though.

Tronman - nice axes! Gotta love an ES-335 and the Ric bass. Sweet synthesizer collection.

Congrats on placing 1st place!! Very cool!

Solid performance from every standpoints! I do karate and I can just imagine how all that control, balance, and flow of movement must be difficult over such a long form.

Wow, thanks! Actually, that's the standardized Beijing 24-step form. Right now, I'm studying the old style Yang 118-step form. It takes about 20 minutes to do. Wish I could still do the "hard styles", but my body won't let me.

There are a lot of beautiful musical instruments in this thread. I particularly like the hollow body Les Paul-ish guitar even though I can't put a name to the color (blue-green color blind).

Just a few of my favorite passages and places. Extra credit if you know the tunes or locations (some are pretty easy).
