SW erns of USA, need a little logistics help

I've seen plenty of movies, mostly older than newer, where a guy is riding horseback somewhere and there is platose all around.
Like it was a vast underwater region at one time.
I need to know what state, part of the state or states these platose can be found.
My son has a geographical assignment and we picked this area to try to understand how this became in nature.

Check out Monument Valley. Lots of movies filmed there.

Also many classic Westerns were filmed at Old Tucson.

I'm guessing you are thinking of Monument Valley as well. After you review the suggestions above....let us know if that was right.

A plateau is a mesa waiting to happen. And when it does happen, it'll be a butte.
