Oh, forgot one. I'm going to turn one of my sheds into a Rocket Workshop for all the "outdoor ventilation required jobs".
Just a matter of resurfacing the Benchtop and running some electricity out to it.:)

First scratch build. 3" MD Parts on hand

Break Mach 1.1, enough to avoid doubt in the baro data, and 2 Miles AGL (provided by the goal above if all goes well)

Fly my own EX motor - getting close
Planning on this in my Formula 98 [video=youtube;SPzPuE_2_jU]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPzPuE_2_jU[/video]

No burnt/blown up cases - in a rocket or on the stand.
(Sorry Bill, but WOW what a CATO)

No more expensive, unplanned, highspeed, deep core samples. In other words take the lessons learned digging at Airfest last year.

If I can revisit this thread January 1, 2016 -and say all the above have happened or are true then I will have had a GREAT year.

Get as familiar with fiberglass as I am with cardboard and wood.

Replace all electronics with my own.

Outgrow my local waiver and be forced to BRC!

Finish my Nuclear Sledgehammer and build my Broken Arrow 8 inch.

Ah my goals are quite modest!

- Start building rockets again
- Attend launches & actually launch rockets

I've pretty much not touched a rocket for 18 months, perhaps a little longer due to a few life challenges but over the last week I've been putting the finishing touches on a build I started during 2013 and will be heading north to the Thunda launch in a week's time.

As for the year ahead, our club starts flying once the fire danger period is over - sometime around Easter usually. So my goal this year is to build some rockets and launch them!
During the second half of 2013 and all of 2014, I attended a few launches but just as a spectator. Time to burn some propellant!

Get new decals for my favorite, triple cluster, CO2 spewing theme rocket.

Thank you for a most hilarious laugh, looking at those pictures! Even my wife said, "yea, that's a pretty good one there!" That is an awesome rocket name! I love it! LOL
Thank you to those who are wanting to fly more Loki motors this year. Thank you very much.

For everyone wanting to break mach 1 & 2, please take a look at what I have to offer you to accomplish these goals.

My goals are as follows.

Fly a rocket. Once that is accomplished, fly another rocket before the year is done.
Certify Loki Cocktail in the 38/120, 240 and 480 cases and Loki Red in the 38/120. (so very close)
Certify the 2nd commercial 38mm "K" motor
Certify the 1st commercial 54mm "M" motor
Certify the 1st commercial 76mm "N" motor
Static test and flight test a commercially viable 98mm full N / baby O motor

Glad I was able to make somebody laugh around here instead of generating the usual barrage of hate mail! Here's a video of the "GW" from awhile ago:

Good luck on all your goals, most especially FLYING ROCKETS! 3" MD on a 76mm Loki "N"

My first post, been lurking and just starting my Madcow Hawk 2.6" fiberglass rockets. (two of them)
One will be for level 1 and 2 certification and one for Level 3. (I hope)

My goals for the year are to join NAR, join a local club and get my level 1 and 2 cert.
My end goal is to break Mach1, but not necessarily this year.

Here's mine:

Get my Magnum in the air for its first flight
First flights for my Purple Parrot and 38 Special
Fly my L3 rocket again

I have an Loki L-930 I would love to burn this year. So I guess my goal is the finish the rocket it's meant to fly in. Fly a bunch of the those new 38's K motors.

I'd really love to see a 3 mile high flight.........
And it just might happen...........

Find a good group of people that wants to fly rockets together.

Learn reloads.
Learn DD
Build my hobby room.... First step is to buy a house.

My list of goals is small. Hopefully that will allow me to complete the list. *fingers crossed*

1. Get my first DD flight in. Done!

The rocket is ready and I've prepared the Firewire Initiator charge holders for running the drogue charge down inside the booster (blow it OUT, right?). Just need to do a ground test or two and I'm ready for the next month's launch although rain is predicted for that day.

2. Do a tip to tip fin treatment on my October Skies XP.

Have never done any fiberglass work on rockets any it's been many years since I did any fiberglass work at all. I've got the fin jig, the templates, the rotary cutter, the cloth, peel ply, and bleeder. All I need now is for the weather to warm up a bit so I can work in the unheated shop.

3. Get my L2 certification. Bought my L2 motor and case today!

With DD behind me, the obvious next step is to get certified for Level 2. Already have a Frenzy, a Wildman BlackStar, and Wildman Punisher so the 54mm motors are calling.

4. Get a tracking system for my birds.

Level 2 and I will need a tracker. I'd rather walk right to the rocket than roam over the hills or trhough the cotton fields. I'm no longer a spring chicken.
Put up my first dual deploy flight today. Success!

Also bought my L2 motor and hardware: CTI Pro38-5G and CTI J316 Pink.

Congrats on the successful DD flight. (I had no doubts it would be a good flight, but I am sorry I missed it.)

Now I feel like I'm falling behind. I better get kraken cracking on one of the two 54mm rockets I have planned. I have a Punisher sitting in a box in the corner of my closet and most of the parts for an ARLISS-K capable bird (code-named ISS-LARK for now) sitting in the trunk of my car...

I'm saving up to place a big recovery systems order for both. (I need harnesses, chutes, nomex, quicklinks and swivels.) I also need to pick up a nosecone and mmt for the ISS-LARK. Buying stuff in phases keeps my hobby budget under control. (And helps sustain a happy, harmonious marriage. :) )

1. Finish repairing/painting any and everything that needs it
2. Break a mile (Red Glare - Madcow Frenzy on K500 RL)
3. Fly my first "L" (Red Glare - Upscale Archer L730 CL)
4. Start a rocket building/mentoring group with my Masonic Lodge

1. Just getting out there!
2. Getting a cert committee together & making progress toward L3. Rocket is designed.
3. Getting out there some more!

I figured it is time for a progress report:

  1. Finish Darkstar Jr. [3 internal and all external fillets remain to be done, plus altimeter bay. No pressure ]
    • Fly first FG rocket [flight scheduled for 06 Jun 2015]
    • Get my NAR L2 [written test passed, flight scheduled for 06 Jun 2015]
    • Mach 1 [flight scheduled for 06 Jun 2015. Depends on what motors onsite vendor has in stock. 10,000' waiver -> CTI J580 SS if I want to have a good chance of breaking Mach and staying under the waiver]
    • Flight over 1 Mile [flight scheduled for 06 Jun 2015]
    • First 38mm motor (May be in a King Kraken instead) [Check - was the KK]
    • First DD flight [flight scheduled for 06 Jun 2015 Darkstar Jr. sims to 7-8,000' on a J. OK, yes I could go higher on a J, see above about not kissing the waiver.]
  2. Fly my first MicroMaxx
  3. Participate in an NAR contest [Check - UROC Pioneer 2015]
  4. Attend NARAM 58 [hotels booked]
  5. Attend Hellfire XX [Registered, hotels booked]
  6. Get enough kids at the program where I've started a weekly rocketry program/group/club interested enough to participate in the 2016 TARC

My progress so far:

-Fly my first 38mm H's and I's- I've flown quite a few now
-Clear 3000 feet- So far only one flight, but more soon
-Fly dual deploy- I've flown 3 successful flights

I still haven't completed the following goals. I'm thinking I'll build a 38mm MD for Mach 1, and wait to fly two miles until next year.
-Clear 1 mile
-Clear Mach 1
-Clear two miles

In addition, I hope to attend more launches (possibly NARAM), get my Eggfinder built, and build a Super DX3 with an Av-bay, which will also let me convert my Frenzy to dual deploy. One I have a few more dual deploy flights on the DX3 or Frenzy, I'll start building my Darkstar 3" or 54mm Vindicator...
