I spent Saturday working on the recovery hardware for our club build - a 1:1 scale V2

And I got to uploading some photos of the work we did on Saturday as well as two previous build days I've been at.

Photos here:

and the most current build photos:

The last set of photos gives you a good idea of the scale of the project. We're just over 2 weeks from launch :)

Krusty!

You never let on that you were part of THAT rocketry group!

Just heard about the project on a recent episode of the Rocketry Podcast. Was that you being interviewed?

Finally got a decent coat of yellow on my Nike Smoke fin.
Put the decal on the Nike Smoke. It's done, it's finally done. After spatters, incomplete coverage, terrible cracking, and hours of sanding, I'm glad it's over. Turned out okay, too

I've got to have my secrets ;)

The interview was with our PR frontman Nat Callea. I've not yet had a chance to listen to the show yet, might even put that on the iPod for the drive to Thunda :)

2 weeks and counting!!

Worked on my Partizon as well:
Partizon.jpg
Did a little here and there this weekend. Mostly waiting for glue to dry.

Sanded my October Skies payload and booster sections. Drilled out the holes through the payload section and altimeter bay for snap rivets. Dang! I forgot to drill out the vent hole in the booster. Get to it tomorrow. Then I re-sanded the payload section where the holes raised rings around them. More drilling and priming on the to-do list for tomorrow.

Disassembled my tube fin rocket to take a picture of the wiring modification I made to a MissileWorks/Landru altimeter sled.

After reading about the Crossfire here on TRF, I bought one at Hobby Lobby. Nice kit, started the build - sanding fins, NC, tailcone and engine mount. Continued the sand/primer/sand process on the Argent, think I have a paint scheme in mind. What I need to start figuring out is how/where to launch these PSII birds.

Prepared two AV bays and made a list of the thing I will need to take to GRITS next weekend. Leaving this Thursday. Hope the weather will be good.

yesterday was a painting day, 2 coasts of white primer, 2 coats of black. now time to retape for the blue and the gold.

Try "Shapeways". They've got some really cool stuff there!

thanks

I too did not know that was you. Have been following along on FB.

That's what I'm wondering about, too. My wife is convinced an arrest is in my future.

Drone video of last launch... and some great photos. We got pretty close!

Purchased a couple of totes, organized some kits, and updated my inventory

Maybe my wife is right and I do have too many.... nah - she can't be right.....

stash.jpg

At least they were small totes (the two on the top left - well - one is hidden behind the one that shows up in the photo)

The sad part is I already have another 5 or 6 I plan to buy

I believe in denial - nope, I don't have a problem...not me

Machined 6 tube end plugs for my MPR tower launcher project. It's getting close, but I still have about 30 holes to drill & tap as soon as my A-Z size drill set shows up.

recovered $15.10 working on gas dryer today , was removing motor as its was seized up in the process of wrenching it unjammed what ever was binding in between blower housing

SOOOOOOO I figure bank account owes a darkstar extreme on saved repair bill .. pushing luck may go for ultimate darkstar

Sanded and primed the payload section of the October Skies XP for the ???th time. Needs to be sanded at least one more time and given a final coat of white 2X primer before color.

Final fitting of the Goblin 5.5 nose cone centering ring for the alt-bay and marked the position for epoxy.

Worked on the one ended nose-cone painting rotisserie to fit the Goblin 5.5. Came up with an idea to use a laminated disc of foam board to stabilize the nose cone shoulder on the "spit". Back to Walmart to buy some foam board tomorrow.

Marked up the motor mount of the Madcow Frenzy for centering rings. Will need to make up at least two more to stabilize the split fins but once you gear up you may as well make a couple of extras, amirite?

drilled a few holes for my comp3. not a lot done but, it is something, between catching some illness and an aching shoulder I just hadn't felt up to doing any rocket building. drilled the vent holes and main chute bay attachment holes.

I installed the primary motor mount into my BT70 Advanced Target Drone, and glued the fins/wings in place. It starts to take shape...

Cool video. I've got a QX2 350 AP with a FatShark FPV system on it. I'm looking forward to getting some HPR launch videos done this year.

FWIW: It sounds like you have a bearing going out in one of your motors.

:) I think we are going to stage two drones for the next one. One at 250'-ish to get a good "launch" perspective. And then one at projected apogee to try and catch the deploy. One of these days I'm worried we will actually get a little "too close".

Made the Chute' Shelf/Shock Cord Attachment and Fin Gussets for my D-Region Tomahawk. Also finished sanding the Fins.

Received a new Fliskit Tesla and a new to me Rose A Roc! Now to finish some in progress builds and get started on some new ones.

Received my cable cutters from Archetype Rocketry in the post!

Woot!

And have been working on my upscale Estes Patrol Cruiser Excalibur after a year's hiatus!

Motor mount installed.
Fins glued in and foamed.
Cockpit glued on.
