I'm planning to fly the Satellite Interceptors if the wind is low enough. Might drag race them H148R-10 vs C6-3.

EDIT: Just realized there is only one controller key, so I guess no drag race. Oh well, I'll just fly the big one then.

We had almost two inches of rain here in Van Alstyne last week, which is about 15 miles east of the Gunter site. But it's been so dry that the ground sucks up moisture quickly and it's been so cold global warming that the ground is as hard as a carp. It was 14 F last night with more of this BS on the way. I don't have anything spectacular ready to fly but I did get a new insulated coat for Christmas. I'll probably brave the next Alberta Clipper just to see that 75mm L touch down on the iced over lake!

Hot chocolate anyone?

We need a setup like the Cowboys will have this weekend playing Green Bay. I would imagine they'll essentially have jet turbines on the side lines.

Scotch might be a good option as well.

Just go old school and use some Visco and a propane torch :p.

This doable if we put 'em both on the midpower pads. At Gunter we usually set them at a distance to accomodate an H and we sure can put an 8th inch rod next to it.

While I like that idea, I want the maximum rail length for the first flight. Rocksim says it is plenty stable, but I still want to give it plenty of runway.

So then we've got to find an extra key somewhere...

We set up a model pad next to High Power 1.

We can fly them separately. Honestly, who would be watching the little one anyway. I'm probably not going to breath until the main comes out on the big boy...I have a lot of work in that one. I'm really hoping it is very calm that day, so I can pop an oversize main at apogee, instead of cable cutter for the main. The fin and fiddly bits extending behind the aft end mean it needs to land really gently, so a super sized main is going to be the order of the day.

In any event I'm looking forward to launching something. Is it the 24th yet?

How's the Door Knob coming along Sam? I see a J275W in your future!

I unpacked the box !
I have a garage full of Christmas decorations to put up so I can recover my workshop. Just the usual procrastination. And I had to say goodbye to my buddy last week. He was in a lot of pain from back and hip issues but now he's playing with squirrels and rabbits in doggie heaven. Need a little time to get my mojo back.

So long as the model pad is out of the blast radius of HP1... :y:

I was thinking my camera tripod launch pad next to HP2. But it's Chris's call.

There is an 8 foot rail available on the mid power. How much do you want/need?

Bump because I know the DARS members are hard at work devising how to launch an N at Gunter

I have a L1520 blue thunder for the 75mm/ 3840 case planned for the next DARS launch and a L1150 for Asa on the 17th. Two L flights and then start I will start my L3 project .

Long range forecast is looking good. What are you guys working on? :D

Nothing new from me.

I'm planning on flying a Loki H144 white in my LOC Athena 3 to about 1800', and an AT I161W in a scratch rocket that is very similar to the Madcow DX3 to about 4500'.

Cool. I look forward to both. What type of starter are you using for your Loki motors?

I've got a new shipment from AT due in this week. Should include most pre orders although AT has been pretty thin it seems. They spent a week or so inventorying and in doing so purposefully delayed production; for rather obvious reasons.... I've got quite a bit on hand still so should have pretty much everybody covered including more 54mm reloads :).

Oh, and I'm donating a 38mm and 54mm seal disc to the club. That should cover 38-480 and 54-1706 reloads on up. Actually I donated the 38mm sd to the club at the last launch come to think of it and noticed we didn't have a 54, which got me to thinking....

Looks like I might be able to make it after all. Now, need to see if I can get anything ready to fly. Might be able to get the Binder Designs tyrannosaur ready enough to to fly naked on motor deploy.... Or maybe test some electronics. Soaring Dusty's fin repair is nearing completion, so maybe a redo on the I357. I have a RW Tomahawk to build, but probably too much of a push to get it build with the day job.

Hope plans hold and we can make it.

Jack

Would be cool if you could make it and would like to see the I357 again. Oh, and flying a rocket without paint is perfectly acceptable; I wonder why I bother half the time.... There's someone out there that won't paint a rocket unless it's flown at least twice, in which case it has 'earned' the right to be painted :D

Finished the new bulkheads for the Satellite Interceptor, so it should fly this weekend on an H148R. The little interceptor is in the repair pile, don't remember damaging it, but noticed it was there last night, so no drag race. Deciding on a second high power flight, maybe the Duke Max with a central I200W with two F12J for effect.

I'm also planning to bring my newly completed tower out (if it fits in the van without any disassembly) for a test fit in a launch base.

Yeah, clustering some long burn F12's with the I200 should be cool.

Just adjust your calendar on the computer and maybe you'll feel better :).

Saturdays weather is looking really good. Fortunately Gunter has many slopes to facilitate drainage and the grass is a bonus. I think we'll be good to go!
