Good to know. Thanks for the heads up.

It's been awhile since the last official meetings/launches and I've stopped checking the website.

I guess we will all be catching up on our membership dues. I just want a place to launch!!!! See you all there.

A friend in Elk Grove tells e that SARG just advertised in the newspaper they were looking for a new site. What news from the meeting?

There was a lot of show and tell from ARLISS, Black Rock, and such, some discussion about the field search, and in general the meeting was a rocketry motivator for those who've been discouraged by the drought and the lack of club flying site.

Interesting article. Hopefully it will help us find a launchsite.

I drove past the old site the other day. Absolutely nothing being done with the land. I had heard that the land was sold to developers but there is no development going on. Was this correct? Also I assume the club has had contact with the new owners and we could not work out a deal until they started developing? Really miss having a local launch club.

"The club hasn’t had a group launch for its adult or youth model rocket enthusiasts since then. While kids often launch illegally from schoolyards and parks, the Sacramento Area Rocketry Group is a professional organization and seeks a legal site for launches and to teach the love of rockets to the next generation."

Is that accurate?

They had an article in the Sacramento Bee's print edition and item in the online edition...https://www.sacbee.com/2014/09/24/6733854/sacramento-model-rocket-club-remains.html

I don't see how that article will help find a new site . . . it was blah and colorless and wouldn't motivate me to offer up a site if I were a land owner. What is really needed is to find prospective sites and talk the land owners into allowing a demonstration or perhaps inviting and transporting a land owner to a launch site like Snow Ranch so they can be energized by what they see and perhaps they will allow launching on their land.

Has any effort been made to contact Zamora Sod Farms in Yuba City. It seems somebody was going to contact them back in 2000 when the College launch site off Hwy 50 was lost.

I sent contact info for Zamora Sod Farm to Skip Meyer . . . also suggested getting a prospective landowner to come to a LUNAR launch to really see what we are about, plus suggested talking with Bill Orvis about what motivated him to offer Snow Ranch as a site for LUNAR.

My concern was that the old site was supposed to have been developed or used for cattle grazing. Seems neither are being done. What a waste of space. :(

Can't speak for the club... but if you think of a lead... make an initial inquiry... and the officers will follow up on any posible lead.

They did try to contact old site owner and grandson... no luck.

So ask your friends, relatives, business contacts, rancher, real estate agent, etc... Several possible sites turned cold due to owners concerns over range fire or deed restrictions, i.e. no parking, no groups over x number of people, etc.
