What stories would you like to see made into a movie? With what director or actors?

Me I would like to see Larry Nivens "Ringworld" directed by Terry Gilliam. It could be done very nicely now with CG. John Cusak could do a good job with Louis Wu. Don't know who would play Teela Brown.

Any other Ideas?

Always wanted to see a film adaptation of Edward Abbey's "The Monkeywrench Gang"...

I like to see comic based movies that actually follow the characters original. Sin City did an excellent job, but that's about it.

SCE to AUX,

Here is your wish. From the wikipedia page:

A film adaptation of the book, to be directed by Catherine Hardwicke, is being planned.

This isn't a movie, but I would like to see an episode of CSI:American Idol

Good one shrox! I can tell that will win some awards just by the title.

Um, maybe the rest of Homer Hickams books made into movies, Coalwood way etc

I'm still waiting for them to make Ender's Game into a movie. It's been rumored for years.

I would love to see a movie (likely movies) adaptation of the Foundation books.

Mach7:

They've been planning it for years, but it never seems to happen...:(

I would like to see a series of movies about historic battles that have had a direct and demonstrable effect of the development of human society.
Two off the top of my head would be:
The Battle of Thermopylae<o></o>
The Battle of Hastings<o>
</o><o></o>
I realize that “300” was the story of the Battle of Thermopylae but I thought it was horrible. It abused special effects. The true story is amazing; the movie version…<o></o>

I would like to see the Foundation series and robot novels by Isaac Asimov made into movies also.

Long live Daniel Olivaw!

Mike

P.S. They should be read in the order published.

I wish for only one, The Stainless Steel Rat by Harry Harrison.

Then next time you get the chance, watch the earlier "The 300 Spartans".

"I, Robot". :p

Another science-fiction film which has been in the planning stages for some time but never seems to get any further is "Rendezvous with Rama".

The life story of the "Sea Devil" Count Felix Von Luckner and his ship the Seeadler. His story was written in a novel by Lowell Thomas, who also wrote about Lawrence in Arabia.

It is tale that equals or surpasses the true adventures of Lawrence or Baron Von Richthofen and takes place on the high sea during WWI. One of the greatest heroes in German history.
He sunk dozens of Allied ships and captured hundreds of prisoners, using a sailing ship as a sea raider against modern war ships. All without taking a human life.

"Ships sink, your lucky star never" his famous quote. This I know, for I have his autographed photo and this quote given to my grandmother by him.

The French national anthem was dedicated to his uncle another famous warrior from an earlier era, and the intro to the anthem features the words "Love, love, love" which became a famous hit by the Beatles.

"I, Robot". :p

I agree - I wish they'd actually filmed the set of short stories instead of slapping the title and a couple of character names on a pre-existing script that had nothing to do with the stories. BTW - did you ever see the script for "I Robot" that Harlan Ellison wrote? Isaac Asimov's SF magazine ran it in two parts quite a few years ago and it was brilliant! Pity the thing fell through - some of the casting would have been great (the two I remember were Keenan Wynn and Ernest Borgnine as Powell and Donovan!

I would also like to see Ringworld or the Foundation trilogy done as movies.

Probably a little difficult to write a plot that is easily followed as a movie for the general public. A lot of narrative would be required to explain what's going on or the first couple chapters would run a bit slow. That's fine in a book but problematic in a movie. It's also a bit dark and cynical. Then again, those are both reasons that I like it.

Two votes for that one

I'd also like to see:

Santiago by Mike Resnick

Cosmic Banditos by AC Weisbecker

Any one of the military series by W.E.B. Griffin

Ringworld, absolutely, or any of the other Known Space books.

How is Teela Brown described, again? Other than being beautiful and extremely lucky, that is?

An A-Team Christmas

The CSI of Hazard

Brady Bunch Survivor

Titanic (with the Love Boat instead)

Smurf Idol

Leprechauns on a Plane

Lord of the Blings, starring Mr. T

Miracle on Bourbon Street

Any movie about Roller Derby

Dude, Where's my Segway

Rocky 8
(okay... I'm done)

Tristram Shandy comes to mind (unless I've missed seeing it)... though I'd thought I'd successfully purged it from my high school memory.

Any movie in the world, provided it did not have two words in it: police and academy.

Ringworld could be good, but there are other Niven works I would rather see. Footfall, The Smoke Ring and the Mote in God's Eye spring to mind.

I would like to see Peter Jackson do a series of movies on the Gaunts Ghosts series from the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
Cheers
fred

I'd like to see more Star Wars movies. Episodes 4, 5, and 6 were good. How come they never made any more? And, Indiana Jones ... how about a fourth movie in that series? How about a sequel to Ghostbusters or Men in Black? Maybe a Godfather III or Spiderman III to follow Godfather II and Spider Man II?

;)

Try 300 Spartans from the 60's, I think. They've all been made before.

I had a college roommate that still cannot figure out why they jumped from Highlander to Highlander III without ever doing a Highlander II.
