So I Became a Statistic When I Purchased GTA4

Sure do! The best my tv will do is 1080i though; it just looks unbelievable to me (I should state that I grew up playing an Intellivision console and a Commodore 64/128 with *tons* of games for it....

Same here. 1080i. But to me it makes no difference, as long as it can do 720p you all set (that seems to be the standard HDTV format). 1080p monitors are just way too expensive.

As yet, I am unable to even split the wrapping on my new Xbox or GTA4...I have to wait 3 more weeks until we get the kids report cards :surprised: It seems my wife thinks it would make a better impression on them if we reward them with this system then, rather now (having the new system for no reason, is a concept my wife can't seem to grasp).

My co-worker has been playing GTA4 since the release, and he says it is OUTSTANDING!!! language, nudity and violence are at an all-time extreme for a GTA game...good thing I bought this package for me :D

I have been leaning towards an Xbox for many years. Delaying the release of the PS3, as well as the pricing of the PS3 being what it is ($399 - $499), truly made my options clear for my purchase...not to mention, Xbox is so well established, I nearly could not have gone wrong.

Nevertheless, with the purchase of GTA4, I now have every GTA game made...even the original <Darth Vader Voice on> "the circle is now complete..." <Dart Vader Voice off\>

Great input guys; it's nice to know that I am not ther only one who smokes a few brain cells playing these console systems...As for the Cube, Tiger Woods '06 is my favorite game to play on it, followed by Star Fox, and Turok the Dinosaur Slayer...

I'm a nerd - my kids traded in their GameCube a while ago for something else (I don't even remember now) and I miss it solely for MarioKart Double Dash. That game is just fun!

I don't think we'll be going back to Nintendo any time soon, except for the hand-held DS (which my 5th grader is addicted to when he's not playing console games.) I've spent quite a few hours on a Wii at both my brother's house and my sister-in-law's house, and I'm totally "turned off" by it. Nintendo has managed to pigeon-hole themselves into a gimick console that just doesn't do it for me.

Here is a flowchart to help you when deciding which game system to buy:

;):D:surprised:

ok i'm a video game nut. owning a ps1, ps2, nintendo, snes, n64, atari 2600, xbox, xbox 360, atari jagjuar, psp, gameboy orig, gameboy ls, and my computer.

I have to say that the xboxes and the psp are my favrot. If you havent plaied halo1 i urge you too or your going to miss the entire storyline for halo. as for gta4 sorry after playing the last few i am not interested. yes it is fun but i just dont like the storyline. now if you like games that freak you out find rlh " run like hell" the controls are a little quicky at first but once you get to know them the game is great. play it in the dark alot more fun. hehehehe. not sure if it plays on the 360 but it does on the origenal.

I bought GTA4, but i really play it hardly at all. It is a really cool game though.

LOL

Just wanted to mention....

My X-Box 360 #2 (5 months old) is going on a trip to Microsoft (Courtesy of the X-Box's 1 year warranty). It just developed an annoying problem of not charging my controller. I can still play games, and my usb keyboard still works with it, but it would be nice to be able to charge my controller (I bought a new controller and charge and play kit so we know its not one of those that is the issue)

Well, I finally 'grew a pair' and asked the wife if I could play my game tonite...

She originally asked that I hold off till the kids get out of school before I spring the new Xbox...I have held out a week, but no more...if my wife will let me, I'll take a stand and play my Xbox if I want too!!!

There, I guess I told her...

Seriously though, I have been living GTA4 vicariously thru youtube videos, and have truly enjoyed the countless hours wasted in front of the computer watching 'pixelated-garbola' video captures...well no more, I'm going to finally play GTA4 tonite...(dang it all!)

Hmmmm....

I went another route with one of those aftermarket brand (Pelican? MadCatz? I don't remember) 2-battery chargers. I then bought a 3rd battery. Now I generally have two in the controllers and one on the charger at all times (inevitably, one controller gets used more than the other and I have yet to have a situation where both controllers go "dead" at the same time so this 3-battery/2-controller rotation is working out great so far.)

I also have one old "wired" controller that works fine too, just not as convenient as the wireless (more backup, I suppose.)

On a side note - I bought that Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga for my kids to play a couple of weeks ago. In that two weeks, they have hardly touched it (they are generally addicted to Halo3 and Guitar Hero III) and *I've* been the one playing the Lego game almost exclusively when I get a chance to play. (I know, I'm a dork.)
