edit: NVM... I was thinking MB...

Anyways, yes, it is TERRIBLE! The "scientists" are just actors - and really horrible actors, nonetheless. And the scientist one... she just SCREAMS "cheesy!!!!!"

I loved how they kept referring to the "detonators"

Gee, thanks smash lab...
Great job...

I love how they were all wearing ear plugs standing 200+ yards away for the rocket launch in the beginning.

The pinwheel design is impractical? NO WAY.

EXPLOSIVES?!?! DETONATORS?!?! "The rocket doesn't go off and the cart becomes a rolling bomb."

What a nice show. Should do wonders for our hobby.

...and to think, I thought I had it bad when my wife asked me to watch American Idol with here last night...

Actually I like the show, but last nights episode stunk!

I haven't seen the show (and, now, I doubt I will). It sounds like both bad science and bad television. But, the comments on the blogs are really funny.

"Smash Labs - I hate your show, but I love your blog!" :)

If the show focused more on the science and less on the stunts. It would be a decent show. But unfortunately the general public wants to see death defying stunts with carnage and explosions. If it was the least bit scientifical the general public would find it boring. What a shame!!
:(

Their biggest "scientific conclusion" was that rockets were unreliable. It seemed more like their "electronics" people were were the shortcoming all around. They had more misfires than a scout launch.

Why is it that I suddenly have an image of what Mythbusters would have been like if the crew of MTV's "Jacka**" made it?:p This show just seems like a lame attempt to find new ways to destroy stuff on camera.

I'm getting frustrated with Smash Lab. Not for just being one of the worst shows to be publicly aired, but that they were using wrong terms and safety precautions. The terms they used gave the impression that the hobby was basically for blowing stuff up instead of the real science, physics, fun, and educational value of the hobby. I mean, they called the leads from the launch controller det. wire! And they were unbelievably close to the motors.

Although I have to agree, the blogs are hilarious.

And this is even funnier. An open call for Smash-Lab comments from the VP of the show? Wow. Nothing screams flame-bait quite like that after making that crappy show.

Heh, I just posted my comment. I think I over did it though...I might've said a little too much.

And who do they get for the rocket "expert"? Jerry Irvine... .... don't ask.
The show wasn't about safely stopping a rolling accident, it was how "unreliable, unsafe, dangerous" that rocket (motors) are. Who in their right mind would think of using a couple of 3000 lb. thrust rocket motors to stop a vehicle on a public road? Ridiculous... I think that word fits this particular episode. IMHO...of course. ;)

I missed the episode, but if i understand correctly, none of Jerry Irvine's motors blew up.... ;)

I think this is were they got the idea. This has been floating around the internet for some time now. At least they got the pre-mature ignition right.
