Well in about 12hrs, not heeding the advice of running to the hills I will be married to the most wonderful girl in the world. Then next saturday I will be going for my level 1 certification. I have to say I am more nervous about getting level 1 certification then getting married. She is very into rockets and wants to build one after the wedding, we got engaged in Dec and she has gotten everything together in 4 months. The rocket is ready but I bumped the nose cone before the paint fully cured and I am now repainting it with my last of my free hours in the next few days. We are going to Kennedy Space Center on monday. WOOHOO!!!!! Well hopefully I can get this painted tonight and get some sleep. She made the groom cake herself, I wanted a Saturn V rocket but settled for a bust of Darth Vader, and all I have to say it is amazing!!!!!! Pictures will be posted shortly.

Well good night all as this will be my last post as a free Man!!!!

Thats great.

What rocket are you going to fly ?

Don't worry I'm sure everything will go fine.

Good Luck.

I have an Aerotech G-force that I have modified, I am going to use an H180W-10, I was going to get the Level 1 Aerotech special but due to the weight of the rocket now it only sims to just over 60ft with an H128W. I have built the rocket up using Epoxy and JB weld. I metal U-bolts to attach 20 ft of tubular nylon. I also went with a aeropack retainer since the the centering ring is so far away from the end of the tube. I also coated the inside of the body tube with JB weld since the enging is so inbound.

Good luck and my all the best go with you as you start your lives together.

I figure if your wife to be will have a Darth Vader groom's cake, then rocketry is safe in your place.

All the bast

Could've been worse; could've been an armadillo cake.

Congratulations, nevertheless!

I was a bit worried when I saw the subject line that you were asking for input as to which you should go for. ;-)

Best wishes for a wonderful celebration and a happy life together. Please post pictures--including the bride and groom and that impressive cake!

Yeah, I was expecting a poll... :p

Good luck!

At first I thought wow witha name of a thread like this either you like rockets too much or you don't really want to get married... and I too was hoping for a poll!

I wish you the best though (level 1 and getting married!)

Yeah. I was all ready to vote for Level 1. Good luck on both. :)

you should try getting married at a rocket launch,, worked for us!!!

congrats and good luck

I must say that I wish you and your wife-to-be all the best of luck (in the right relationship no luck is needed).

Congratulations to the both of you,
I wish you two many wonderful years (and launches) together !

If you had to make a choice would it be:

1. L1 Rockets and Cert
2. Getting Married
3. Try for both and hope for the best j/k

hehe :D

Seriously though, I hope you have a great wedding and have a great life together. :)

Well the die has been cast and 1 is not an option and two is a definite and Ill be shooting for 3!!!!

Everything went fine except I misplaced my camera with the pictures of Darth Vader. It was most impressive, and he tasted good too!!!!!!! Hopefully I will find it and post some pictures.

Thanks for all the support and were off to titusville tommorrow and KSC!!!!!!!!!!!!
YEAHH!!!!!!!

It's not so much that you are "free". It's a different kind of freedom. You will see. Marriage is far more rewarding than single life. Congratulations on the wedding. You are now entering one of the great adventures of mankind.

You know, traditionally when a rocketeer gets his L1 cert, the LCO says "Congratulations - now get out your wallet".

You might want to make sure that the new wife is distracted at that point.

Funny how much time, money, paperwork and oversight is required for an L1, while you can get a marriage license for twenty bucks and a clerks signature.

Anyway, love each other always and remember to put the seat down. And if you like it squeezed at the end, and she squeezes in the middle, get the toothpaste in the pump.

Congratulations, and God bless. I just passed the 21-year mark, and I highly recommend the married state.

Yep. Put the seat down, meet her more than half-way, and don't sweat the toothpaste tube or the direction of the toilet paper on the roll. Remember what's important and what's trivial. Believe it or not, it's the trivial stuff that'll cause more friction. So remember it's trivial and let it go.

As long as I'm making recommendations (doubtless worth what you've paid for them), let me recommend Model Rocket Design and Construction by Tim VanMilligan of Apogee Components. Books on marriage you'll have to look up for yourself. :D

Have a great time at KSC.

Somethin doesn't seem right here Mark, not trying to give you a hard time but the sims seem off....

Don't know what you could do to a G Force to make it only get 60' on an H128, what is the final weight??

If it only gets 60' on a an H128 then the 10 second delay on the H180 seems like it's going to be way too long...

I'm pretty sure that's a typo- in a PM from late last week, he said 640 feet. I recommended
the larger motor to ensure the recovery system would have room deploy fully...
