For all those who have been searching for BT-100 body tubes, they are now available from Semroc. I have been searching for a supplier of BT-100 to build a 100% scale clone of the Mars Lander... but it looks as though Semroc may make my life even easier. There are several clues that suggest that Semroc will be coming out with a Retro Repro of the Mars Lander.

Semroc also have BT-40 and BT-3 available now. It looks like they will be using the BT-3 for a Little Joe II model.

(And just when you thought that thought that you were catching up with your model building)

Anyone know the size of the BT used for the Big Daddy?

It's called HBT-3000 (Heavy Body Tube) and it's outside diameter is 3.0". Estes got it from their one-time partnership with NCR. Not sure of the inside diameter. I've seen it stated as 2.9", but I suspect it's not as thick-walled (0.05") as that. I'd say 2.93" is closer.

Not only the Mars Lander, but the 1/70 Saturn 1B is on the way (the balsa escape tower cone and skirt are on the website now, too, for the BT-3, and I think the balsa Apollo capsule may be up as well..

WOW!!!

Not only the BT-3, BT-40 and BT-100 available - They've got Nose Cones!!! :D

Check out the Estes Cone collection - They've got two different BNC-3s, five different BNC-30s, three different BNC-40s, and two BNC-70s. Plus Estes style transitions and balsa plugs. Heck - except for the plastic and cold power stuff, they've almost got the whole '74 Custom Parts Catalog available!

I'm gonna have to get an order together! Thank you Semrock!!!

I Emailed Jim at Totally Tubular a few weeks ago asking about the Big Daddy tube And He has them in stock in.
Sandman had a few Big Daddy cones at Naram, I bought one, but I don't know if he has any left.

I've always though a long BT version of the Big Daddy (2' BT?) would be awesome. Cluster 24MM of course.

Really Big Daddy?

Who's Your Daddy?

Smack Daddy?

:D

There's a guy in our section who flew his Big Daddy a few months ago but somehow it started a small fire on landing... Someone else put out the fire but also killed the rocket by stomping on it . The owner took the nose cone, built a longer rocket, and called it the Stomp Daddy. Sadly, 10 days ago it ended up in the tallest tree right at the edge of our field.

At least it won't get stomped.

Semroc does not have any nose cones for the BT100. The BT100 is used on the Saturn 1B and Mars Lander, both of which taper down to much smaller nose cones.
