Thick sturdy tubes. Many pieces. This looks like a great kit.

It almost took as much engineering getting the parts to fit in the bag than to get the thing designed.

I took it out of the bag and got stuck building it.
I'm almost done with the airframe...

I'm doing the Soyuz conversion....still stumped on how to do those grid fins though....looking for a plastic grid about 1/10" square for each hole...

BTW: this is one of the finest kits you'll ever own...this and his Aerobee -Hi.

Does anybody know what vendors are selling/have in stock any Vostoks ?Apogee sent me an email saying they had 2 in stock and if I wanted one.Of course by the time I got back to them....POOF...all gone (less than 24 hours later)

Not a huge fan of emotioncoms but -----> :confused2:

Got mine from Uncle Mikes Rocket Shack (UMRS). I had seen a thread with the title of Cosmodrome Back In Stock, and ordered the rocket within 5 minutes of viewing the thread. I think a day or two later, when i checked, UMRS had the Vostok lasted as out of stock again.

Somewhere i saw a post where the Cosmodrome owner stated he was building more, they were going to more than one vendor, and he would try to spread them out amongst vendors.

I think some type of screen is your best bet. Plus you can orient the grid at any angle you need, by cutting the screen at an angle.

I think experimental rocketeers filter their chemicals/metals through different size screens to ensure they get the particle sizes they need. They may be able to point you to a place to acquire various mesh sizes of screen.

I'm working on some right now. More importantly, I'm working on reducing the manufacturing time of this kit. Hang in there a little longer. Soon I'll have one for everyone.

Admit it, Mike. That bag contains a space-time continuum, which is the only way all the parts fit in there.

I remember taking mine out of the bag and thinking "Okay, where did that come from, and how the heck did he fit it back in there?"

Then, I made the mistake of trying to get the parts back into the bag. I promptly gave up and put them in a box.

Launch Magazine had an article about the R-7/Lunik/Vostok/Voskhod/Soyuz and this kit in particular, with conversion suggstions....I can't put my hand on the date of the article at the moment.


I bet someone here can....

You'll need to do a lot of online research to scale body tube extensions of course...
