Abstracts of the 32 scheduled presentations are posted at https://www.narcon.org/schedule/presentations/presentations.html

Locals are invited to bring their best rockets for display in our New England Rocket Garden https://www.narcon.org/schedule/RocketGarden/RocketGarden.html

The registration packages have been stuffed and the Program is at the printers. For those people who haven't registered and are still planning on attending, online registration will be shut down Sunday night. You can still register at the door but it will cost $5 more.

KIT UPDATE!

All of the parts are now in-house (well, one small exception for Nell, but it has shipped and is expected tomorrow afternoon).

Kathy is actively packing those tiny parts into those tiny bags and we expect to begin kitting, on time, Saturday afternoon. We expect to have them all kitted up by the end of the weekend (we're also kitting for our regular inventory, so...)

We head out to Worcester a week from tomorrow! whew!

Woo-hoo! I am all signed up, and I cannot wait!

It's a day after I turn 17; what an awesome way to celebrate my birthday :D

I'm not sure if I'm suffering from sleep depervation or the Beastie Boys re-mixed this one, but I could have sworn that I hear this today on the radio:

No sleep 'til - NARCON

Hand on the button - never ever mis-fire
Motor running hotter than a boiling kettle
My job's ain't a job - it's a damn good time
Site to Site - I'm launching my kits
On location - launching around the nation
Rocket Boys always at regionals
Itchy launch finger but a stable HPR
I launch what I do best because I'm willing and stable
Ain't no crying - your AP I'm burning
Going coast to coast - watching all the rocket launches
While you're at the job working nine to five
The Rocket Boys on the flight line - cold kickin' it live

No sleep 'til -

Another tube, another fin
Another ‘copter on the pad
Another launch - another flight
Another walk forever
Our RSO's crazy - he always looks up
He's got his own pad by the port-a-potty
Walk around the field - you lost another out there
Safe to arm - bird’s on the pad
We're burning AP like it's going out of style
Launching kits a long way up cause it's worth our while
Four on the pads – count down from ten
R.S.O.'s on the phone because he's yellin' at a plane
We got a bird on the pad with AP in the stack
With ‘cone on the front and fins in the back

No sleep 'til -

No sleep 'til - NARCON

Ain't seen the ground since we started this flight
L.C.O. - get on the mic my man
Launch the next rocket - 3.2.1.
They call me loud mouth - but I'm L.C.O.
Like a lug to a rod - a rod to a lug
I dip the ignitor with all the pyrogen
Got scales, two stagers, mach busters
True color pictures and scale data
Step off homes - get off of my pad
Launching little goonies from here to L.A.
Looking up before I prep the bird
Cause I'll be rocking this launch eight days a week

No sleep 'til - NARCON ...
No sleep 'til - NARCON ...
No sleep 'til - NARCON ...
No sleep 'til - NARCON ...
No sleep 'til - NARCON ...

Well I have a snag with my narcon plans. My original plan was to represent LOC for Barry. However, Barry was unable to finish up what he was going to send me for the event. So I will only have a couple kits on hand to sell, and nothing new to show. I will still try to have a booth. If you happen to have any built loc rockets, and don't mind me borrowing it for at least Saturday, I could use some displays :).

The NAR Board members and NARCON 2010 host CMASS President Bill Spadafora will be checking into the Worcester Crowne Plaza tomorrow evening for the all-day Friday NAR Board meeting that runs from 8 AM to 7:30 PM.

I'll be arriving on Friday morning to make sure the sold-out Crowne Plaza Hotel is ready for our informal Friday Night Welcome Reception, and the Pachachoag golf course is ready for our Sunday afternoon rocket launch following the conference.

The rest of the Planning Committee will be joining us at Clark University Friday afternoon to set up our headquarters in Tilton Hall, and provide logistical support for the 4 PM - 7 PM vendor setup.

Anyone attending the Convention is encouraged to meet the CMASS crew and the other conference participants 48 hours from now in the Lobby Bar of the Crowne Plaza between 7 PM -10 PM Friday evening. You are also encouraged to pick up your registration package at the reception to avoid delays on Saturday morning.

Have a safe trip and see you in 48.

Bob

Just to be clear, the Board members are checking in for the Board meeting. I'm checking in so I can worry about what I might have forgotten.

The amazing thing?? I think I am actually *ready*! LOL

New kits are in the bag
T-shirts are in the bag
staff shirts are in the bag
NARCON range box stickers in the bag

All the web site updates have been done for the new kits (coded, not uploaded yet - that happens tonight :) )

All I gotta do now is pack the truck.

OH! And if you haven't seen it yet, the Steampunked ACME Spitfire will be on display at the FlisKits booth all weekend!

Should be a good weekend. Just wish Carl and gang were going to be able to join us!

Rub it in! Rub it in! I had to go to a second gorcery store today because the first one ran out of Mountain Dew. I believe that my blood type is now Dew positive.

I'll be skipping the Friday events just so that I have more time to get everything ready. See everyone bright and early Saturday.

Just a quick plug for my wife's cottage industry.

CATOChutes will be there all day Sat/Sun with some of the nicest small six panel hemispherical parachutes you will ever see. She specializes in small (8" to 24") parachutes only. These little works of art are all but indestructible and are warranted for life against anything except
  • Melting
  • Deployment at full speed
  • Hanging in trees

Please stop by as it helps feed my rocketry addiction.

Also, ask her about MotorSocks - she is reluctant to advertise them, however they do keep your valuable hardware safe and sound.

Just finishing up some paperwork and then will start getting ready.

Will be leaving early on Friday so we should be there on Friday night.

I will not be bringing everything, so if anyone needs something specific, please email me and I will bring it.

Good point, Angelo...

I'm bringing only kits. If you need any parts or accessories please drop me an email (a few already have).

My suggestion is to visit Jim and get a Richter Recker then go to Karen and get 2 CATO chutes for it - the perfect combination!

I will commute to NARCON Saturday only, up 395 from Groton/New London.

I intend to depart at 7:30am, arrive 8:45 and leave the event around 6:30 or so.

I have room for 2 additional riders.

Send a PM

Maybe future NAR events should be held in places with more favorable weather, like Death Valley, International Falls, Barrow Alaska, Antarctica, etc. :D

It's spring in New England. I'm thrilled that it's not going to snow!

The NAR's window for NARCON put's it in a time of year when weather is iffy everywhere except the places that have good weather all year.

Fortunately just about everything is inside. Initially we weren't planning on any kind of a launch. The owners of the golf course where Goddard's first flight was were so cooperative we had to give it a shot. And I nstill haven't given up. I can't tell you how many launch cancellation decisions I've had to make the morning of the launch.

Of course, last weekend was 60 degrees and sunny. Oh, well. It is New England. If you don't like the weather, just wait a minute.

Well, we're all set up and are now resting in the hotel.

Saw Bob Alway downstairs and ran into Dick Nelson also. Gonna be a fun weekend :)

Real easy getting to and from the school, so that's nice. Bummer is, no syfy channel at the Crowne.... :(

going to the meet-n-greet tonight for a little bit, but also going to take advantage of the ability to REST and do nothing rocket related for a bit :)

After a 9 hour drive, we finally arrived. We did a quick unloading and setup but final touches will be Saturday morning.

Exhausted.

And the Hotel doesn't have a proper room so poor Tim is sleeping on a cot.

You made a reservation but this is the best we can come up with

Head office will hear about this on Monday.

For those coming, clocks are changing, so your clock goes ahead one hour.

Nice meeting room! They do have cafeteria food and it is suppossed to be the best. All you can eat for one price.

In contrast to last year, I'm actually bringing some money this time. Will that help? :confused2:

Heading down well before dawn tomorrow to make the mad dash to W'ster. (A 5 hour drive or thereabouts.) Then I'll be staying over Saturday night in Auburn, right near you know where... :D

Really, really looking forward to seeing everyone. :) I didn't register for the dinner because I didn't think (until just a little while ago) that I would be staying over. So maybe I'll grab a sub from Subway and hang out just outside in the hallway. (Kidding, kidding...)
