Has anyone used silicone rubber tube as a shock cord protector?

Just wondering.. I'm looking at putting it over 3/4 inch tubular nylon near the ejection charges

My only question would be: what happens to silicone rubber when it is exposed to hot embers/hot gasses?

I believe silicone has high heat resistance. They make potholders out of it.

Silicone is a good flame shield that is why I was thinking about it...

Don't know if it is the same compound but they have been using silicon on spark plug wire for years. It does happen but it is tough to melt these.
