In the NARAM thread, theres been a bit of off topic chat about a forum T-Shirt. An excelent idea, me thinks.

To keep the aforementioned NARAM thread on topic, I thought I'd start a thread especially for the discussion of the idea.

My first few thoughts are:
  • Black or Sky Blue (after all, the sky is what we aim at)
  • No 'zany', bumper sticker type sayings. It should have some kind of slogan on it, just not too 'wacky'.
  • Maybe a special 'painting' T-Shirt. Worn for painting, epoxying, gluing etc - anything to do with the hobby thats messy. Competitions could then be run to see who gets the messiest shirt.
  • Keep the cost below £18 (approx $28), so us Brits can order one, and not get hammered for Import duty and VAT.

What do others think?

Great idea, but I am not going to pay $28 for a T-shirt to paint in. I will wear it to launches!!!!!!!! I would buy at least one maybe two.

$28 is WAY TO MUCH!!! $20 at most, but you can get good shirts valued around $12 each. Like my Fliskits shirt... I bought two, and the total did not break the bank.

i have looked around the cafe press site and the t shirts cost $14 +what ever you want to add on them.
so if the shirt was $20 then $14 would go to cafepress and the rest would go to the TRF fund

Fund...what fund???

How would I get administration fees?

Count me in! Sounds great! Anyway to set up a donaton PayPal icon anywhere/ You might be able draw a little change through that.

It would probably be too expensieve, but we could all have personalised ones with our TRF nicknames printed on the back

You could check out Electric Weave at: https://www.electricweave.com/t-shirts.html

These shirts use a die-sublimation process allowing full CMYK color processing, no screens and no setup charges. That results in shirts in the $11 - $14 range in any quantity (even just one). Problem there is that someone would have to take the task of ordering and delivering (shipping) the shirts, whereas the other site mentioned does all of that *for* you.

I like the idea. Sounds very cool.

Going on the idea of having personalized T-shirts, what if we all could just get permission to use the TRF logo, pick our style of shirt, then have them put the logo on it, along with our screennames, so that everyone has their own, with the TRF logo and thier screen name....then there is no need for a TRF button at the next TRF meet!

"Hey, where's Carl?"
"Go read the back of everyone's shirt till ya find him, silly!"

The admins and mods discussed this issue a little while back and decided against it.

We are currently re-discussing now. We ask for your patience in this matter.

Actually, I would refrain from giving everyone free use of the logo like that. I doubt anyone would abuse it, but once you do it, it would then belong to "public domain".

Rather, you could set something up with the one vendor (where they offer the shopping cart), or with John Hall of Electric Weave where TRF provides the artwork for the TRF portion of the shirt with a DEFINED area for the individuals "handle". When ordering, the individual would provide their handle and it would be added to the pre-existing (pre-approved) artwork.

That way, each shirt is identical except for the users name.

best of both worlds and you protect your logo/trademark

Hmmm. Better make sure the rocket is printed on the front and not the back. :kill:

Jim,

That's what I meant. By having the TRF shirt area, then a place for the person's screen name, you have a bunch of individual shirts, and they aren't all exactly the same. Make sure the letters for the screen name are big enough for the old guys to read from a distance.... :D

What I was thinking was he shirt could be dark blue with a rocket on it and below something like the skys the limit or something. I think that would look cool but thats just me.:D

I personally think black is better than blue, there are more colours that are readable on black than blue.

True. It could be black and the text could be gold or silver or something. But again thats just me.... ;)

I prefer the saying:

"why settle for the sky when there's a whole universe out there?"

:D

Put me down for one! I've been trying to get a Fliskit shirt from Jim for some time but no dice, he keeps saying he will get back to me on it. hehe One way or the other I'm going to get a t-Shirt. LOL

We, the admins and mods met and, based on popular demand, we have decided to produce some TRF shirts. So we ask everyone to be patient while we figure out the specifics. We have heard your requests and will do the best we can to fulfill them. More on this later.

Any proceeds coming from the t-shirt sales will go directly to the TRF fund to make sure TRF remains a healthy community.

Final Note: I also have to mention at this point... The TRF logo is the property of TRF and is protected by copyright laws. The admins and moderators must approve any use of the logo. We will not be stingy with the logo so if you have an idea, please share it with us first. I hope you understand that we need to make sure the logo keeps its integrity.

Thanks...

Definitely a good idea to have our screen names on them somewhere - should be a mandatory uniform item at the next TRF group launch!

I think a good saying would be: "Why yes, I AM a rocket scientist!" :D

Suggestion....Jim Flis has a really nice quality shirt that he uses. You might contact Jim for more info..
