Got alot of stuff from someone who has left the hobby, in the stash was two G80 motors (single use)
one appears fine, the other one has had the central core swollen and the C slot hs closed.
Is it safe to simple use a fine file and recore the grain so i can get a copperhead in?
anyone had any experience wit single use motors where this has happened?

When the grain "closes up" like that, it is usually a sign of significant moisture absorption. This means that the motor will burn more slowly, and there is a decent chance that the delay train will actually self-extinguish. Personally, I wouldn't fly the motor (at least without electronic deployment.)

thanks, looks like it could be a motor saved for an art applewhite ufo type rocket

Another thing to worry about with older single-use Aerotech motors is whether there's any ejection charge left in them. The old tape seal would give out after a couple of years and the powder fell out.

You can refill the ejection wells, or, as I do, use the motors in saucers that don't require an ejection charge.
