Okay, so my dad an I have been talking about it, and we might be going to XPRS this september. If I am going, I'm not going without a new rocket.
On top of one shot deal (if it holds together until september) I plan on making a rocket for the: Dude, where's my rocket? contest.

Here is what I came up with...

speedstick.jpg

It is a minimum diameter 29mm rocket, built with 29mm blue tube, an Apogee 29mm nosecone and 1/8 inch G-10 fins, fiberglassed to the airframe. And, a 48 inch parachute:D

before you :bangpan: I know it's a RIDICULOUSLY large parachute for such a light rocket. There's room in black rock ;)

Sims show about 1700 feet and a total flight time of 4 minutes and 26 seconds. On a E23T-8.

If I don't recover this one, I might get hit over the head with ye olde football bat.

If you have any suggestions, let me know. Bigger E motors perhaps?:p

Just a question, why the G-10 fins and fiberglassed to the BT? Couldn't you save an oz or two by using 3mm plywood or paper laminated balsa? They should hold up fine with an E motor with just a small epoxy fillet.

Hmmm, sounds like a good plan to me. I guess I didn't really plan on flying it on anything besides E16's and E23's.

I'll incorporate that into the rocksim file, and keep some money in my wallet too. ;)

thanks!

Brother, go ahead and glass it. Sure, it'll cost you a little in altitude on the smaller motors, but... You'll get out to the playa, fly the E motor, and then you'll want to put an H in it. If you've never been to the playa, take my word for it. Once you see all that recovery area... Miles and miles of miles. No place any where in the world like it. You WILL get the "let's put a bigger motor in it" bug. :D

Actually, If I use blue tube, I won't need to fiberglass.
