Oh my gosh! What is the address on that one?

Shrox Industria, 2105 P Street, Eureka, CA 95501

(Which, of course, means that this kit is the really, really rare version that's worth a fortune ....) :)

...and matches the one I have downstairs. I don't think it was available for very long; it really is a cool kit!

Shrox, you should make another production run on this one. Please. :D

The parts for this are fairly standard, I think.

What would work very nicely is if Shrox offered a PDF of the instructions for sale for, say, $5 and then you collected the parts yourself. Five tubes, five nosecones, some basswood, a dowel, a motor mount, some recovery goodies and you're good to go!

This would be an excellent solution and would apparently generate significant revenue.

I had thought about that. It turned out the glider was very, very tricky to get to glide well. I quit making it while I looked for a better parts set up.

But, you didn't answer the question about making another production run? ;)

Or if not, would you be willing to make the plans available?

Tks

Like you did on the shx-15 where you had to paypal for the file password

You have to remember I work for a major model rocket company now, I can't release anymore plans like that. And I can't tell you what plans there are for my old designs either...however, they will not be lost.

Just throwing something out there, as I do understand you work for Quest (really cool 2010 catalog, BTW!). Has Quest ever done a newsletter or design of the month or similar? It could be interesting to release kit designs that way. Maybe designs that are not 100% feasible for mainstream production, but that could work for hobbyists that are more dedicated.

Just a thought. Cool kit also!

Sandy.

So what, did this major model rocket company pay you for the rights to all of your previous designs when they hired you? Or does your contract have some sort of non-compete clause that would make releasing something not designed for the major model rocket company a no no?

Unless they have optioned all your old designs, seems to me like you wouldn't have any trouble selling the plans for something that was designed prior to your relationship with them.

Ever hear of NDAs?

I understand about not competing with your employer. Maybe one day Quest could offer this as a kit.

In a meantime, let's approach this from a different direction.

Does anyone have a Shrox StarShuttle plan they'd be willing to post publically? Seems as if people would be willing to pay a few bucks as well.

I'd prefer that didn't happen.

All I can say is please be patient...read between the lines as it were...

A non-compete would prevent something like this.

However, since Shrox mentioned NDAs, coupled with some other things he has said, I suspect we'll see some currently unavailable Shrox designs coming out as Quest designs, in time.

I think that operating under a ... hey, over there, isn't that Patrick Stewart?

Sure have, and if you are hinting or insinuating something about the status of your past intellectual property being reissued as a Quest kit, and that's covered by the NDA, then you've violated it.

However if that isn't covered by an NDA with Quest, and you just don't have plans to release more pre-Quest designs as plans for pay, then you're just being a *French shower* for not saying that's the case. Even if you don't have plans at the moment, you could just say that and you'll still have the respect of people who love your work and would like to see more of it.

I was hoping my reluctance to discuss it in detail would be respected...

He said he won't be releasing the kit (or plans) any time soon and that he can't talk about Quest's plans. That seems like a reasonable response to me. The rest was supposition from others.

In the mean time, there's still a kit available on eBay. Hint. Hint. :)

BTW ... I just recalled getting a small dowel in the mail from Shrox shortly after receiving the kit. So, the kit may be missing this one small part. If I can find it, I'll include it with the kit. If not, it's easily duplicated.

Bid, bid, bid!

A really cool kit, too!

To paraphrase Shrox, Bid early, bid often! Then build the thing -- it's just too cool to leave it sitting in a bag!

Yep, very easily replaced. It's the peg that holds the glider on during boost, and I've a strong suspicion that a certain someone who frequents this place will be more than happy to let the winning bidder know the dimensions of the piece needed to replace it.

I've always thought this was one of Shrox' cooler designs -- buy it and you won't be disappointed!

Did I really schedule the auction listing to end on Super Bowl Sunday?

:)

Wow. The kit sold for more than I expected. Thanks to all who bid.
