New Year's Resolutions?

My New Year's Resolution is to turn these parts into something like this rocket. It will have six canted 18mm mmt's in the base and a 24mm for the sustainer in the third stage. Ted

My first resolution is to get a job. I've been unemployed for almost 10 months now!!!

Second, burn a larger amount of AP and BP than I did in 2009 although I got to fly two Research 54mm 4 grain K motors - one being a really nice red (K460) and the second, an awesome blue (K555) so I really can't complain. Thanks Marc.

Third, well, find a girlfriend. Somehow I doubt THAT will happen.

Oh Yeah! My New Years Resolution....
To be less of a jerk Than I have on the former TRF..(unless someone confronts me personally-then it's 'fair game!'), and more into a positive aspect on models, and especially rocketry! To Be pleasant and reinforce every attempt at card model, and general rocketry. To inspire creativity to both card modelers, card rocketry enthusiasts. To get out and meet/greet people, and....well that's a plate full for me.

That's definately a good one! Not only will it make a great model, but it does make a good flyer! AW Smeg...ok New Year's Cheer is kicking in, but in the old forum/archives it was done, and is done.
Darn good selection for a card rocket! Salutations...!!!

To be prepared to go back to work in the event that companies and organizations start hiring again.

To complete a number of projects that have been sitting in the queue for quite awhile.

To get Level 1 certification. (I say that every year.)

I'll look for that build thread in the archive. I got an unexpected Xmas bonus. A package of liquor chocolates shaped like little bottles came with a plastic packing piece with nozzle shaped cones in it. Forty of them!
I'm sorry to hear from so many forum users of your difficulties finding employment. The recession hit early for me(oct 07) but it has ended early as well(apr 09). It really seems like the economy continent wide is turning around. You technical types might want to have a look at Alberta, companies are hiring and trained people are treated pretty well here. For Americans I don't think you'd notice much difference other than the metric system and funny looking money. Ted

Around here, the economy really tanked in 2001 and it has not yet recovered. The Great Recession has been a decade-long phenomenon where I live. I have managed to be employed in just 16 out of the last 84 months. And in more than half of those months, the employment was only part-time. These were all professional positions, but except for one brief 3-month stint, none of them provided any benefits such as health insurance or paid sick leave. Only once in the past seven years have I held a job during Christmastime. At the end of 2002, I could look back on an unbroken streak of full-time employment that stretched back 26 years, in jobs that all provided a full array of benefits and in a career that exhibited progressive advancement. I never expected to ever be unemployed. It has never been that way since. Being out of work for 5 years and 8 months can have a really corrosive effect on a man's soul.

Ya know...or don't know, it may be the New Year's Cheer, and I'm pretty loaded with it....

I gotta say though...officially, I've been unemployed since 2002. Unofficially, I've done...odd jobs for my Uncle Sam.

No more!!!

Now, I'm unemployed. I could use a 'real job', but I'm in no rush.
New Year! New thoughts! New positive attitude!

for me, i have a couple of resolutions, but my rocketry resolution is to pass my level two exam and then cert flight my level two.
and to take first place in the design this space ship contest on EMRR - but that's more of a dream.

It'll actually be a fairly simple design. I decided I wanted a fairly sleek, uncomplicated, high performance design for my L3 (since I've built so many nonstandard HPR rockets). The current design looks somewhat like (though not exactly like) a Performance Rocketry Intimidator 5. It'll take 98mm motors, and it should be good for ~30k on the biggest N motor that fits.

finish and fly my L1 cert rocket (Loc IV purchased in 2007),
document some of my scratch builds, and finish building and
painting all the rockets I have on the bench before I start anything else.

Something tells me that last one will be the first one to go ...

I'm not sure what type of paper it is. It's used for printing geological maps for the oil and gas industry. I have a friend in the printer repair business. He told me it was printed on a large format plotter. I would call it a thin cardstock so I'll be doubling up much of the airframe and building it around a BT-70 core. Ted
