As I'm sure you've noticed, beginning today there is a banner spot at the top of the TRF page.

You'll see multiple advertisers in this location; the goal is to help the advertisers a bit, as well as help cover the costs of providing the forum to the users.

Remember, these fine folks are helping you, by helping make this forum available.

I don't buy rockets from anyone anyway that's not connected to this forum. Well, except eBay. Can't pass up them Builder's Specials :cyclops:

Estes and, I think Custom Rockets and a few others don't and they really need a presence here, if for nothing but to monitor the heartbeat of the hobby.

I, for one, will continue to support the venders we have :)

Great job to both troj and WiK for getting the advertising going. It's nice to see the vendors at the top. Congrats!

A few months back I, eventually, found out who the owners of Custom Rockets were, phoned them, and then extended an invitation to join TRF simply so we could get to know them better. At that time they weren't interested, but who knows what the future may hold?

i think the advertising is at about the correct level, its not intrusive, it's advertising things that people on the forum are interested in (instead of credit cards etc) and if it generates some funds to keep the website alive then that's great. well done to those who sorted it out.

I'm sorry to say but that's pretty stupid and short sighted.

Like I said I only buy from member manufactures and the Designer Specials on eBay. Yeah, I know that most of them are sold on eBay but for the most part I can't tell if it's one of our vendors or not so I'll continue to get most of my stuff from those listed in Rocketry Resources sticky and plan on being a very loyal customer for them:happydeer:

I could see where that perspective could come from, however it's both their choice and their marketing model. I was simply tracking them down because through many of my travels throughout the U.S. I tend to stop into hobby stores and often see their products and see Custom Rockets in many stores. But I know of no individuals whose ever seen them at a trade show, any type of launch, or NAR related event. I was simply offering them an opportunity which the graciously turned down.

I was able to find out that they way they do their distribution, and hopefully, I remember this right - is that they simply call the hobby stores directlys, and avoid any formal type of distributor. At least that's what I recall . . .

Custom Rockets does advertise in Sport Rocketry, though. And I'm not sure, but I think that they have sponsored events at NARAM, too.
