Forum,

Over the weekend I sat down with the wife and watched two movies that really blew me away. They are both thrillers and not for children, but both involve children.

I give them both 10 out of 10 and recommend you rent the DVD/Blue-rays or watch them via your cable/satellite provider.

They are:

Hard Candy - Released 2006

and

Orphan - release 2009

As an avid Alfred Hitchcock fan and follower, I am sure he would be very impressed with both of these films and I think you will be also.

More to add:

Rob Zombie's - House of the 1000 corpses (2003) ... VERY WEIRD! You must be into these types of films to apprieciate them. ABSOLUTELY NO KIDS VIEWING THIS STUFF!!!

Ladies my wife HATED it! I loved it, but being smart husband, I agreed with her. When she ask to change to something else, I would say, 'well lets see what happens, it might get better.'

And I just saw the Soloist (2009) while on vacation... I was impressed and mad at myself for not seeing it in the theaters when it first came out. I just don't like theaters: People talk, including myself. The price of tickets, the price of pop corn, the price of a soda ... take family, and it can set you back more than $50!

Just wait for the DVD ... Blockbuster is right around the corner from me

If I was to recommend something... it would have to be 'The I.T. Crowd'.
Its a British comedy about 2 computer nerds with a boss who is clueless about technology.

My wife and I both love this show and if you can watch this without busting a gut, then nothing will make you laugh.

Glad to see The IT Crowd is making it over there your side of the pond! There was talk a while back of making a US version, but I don't think it would be the same...

One of the more interesting films I've seen recently is Russian Ark. Filmed in a single 90 minute long shot in one of the huge Russian palaces. Worth checking out if you don't mind strange subtitled films.

Interesting... ya know the American comedy, Sanford and Son originally started in the UK, then moved to here. The highest ratings S&S was able to achive was 3rd in the early to mid 1970's; still very respectible.

I think there is potential for this show in the U.S.. Afterall, Americans LOVE making fun of Nerds... its almost a family tradition in most settings.

They did start to film a US version with the original Moss actor. I think they did a pilot but it never went anywhere.

I discovered this show on a long flight to Stockholm. They had all these foreign shows and this one was one of the few in English so I naturally watched it. I laughed soo hard that I thought they were going to kick me out and make me sit on the wing. My wife was soo mad that I couldn't stop laughing.

Skycopp,

No wonder ... I believe European humor and American humor are on different wavelengths, but then there is Faulty Towers, Mr. Bean and Monty Python, so go figure :) The French just aren't funny but rude, so they had to import Jerry Lewis.

Hey I have respect for the British because for years, the A-Team was the #1 show in the UK! I just finished watching an episode on an American station named, RTV (Retro Television). It was great seeing the madness the A-Team unleashes upon the 'bad guys'!

ONE OF THE GREATEST SHOWS EVER!!!

Despite the decor, I still say European cars are funny looking circus cars! :)

P.s. Does anyone know where the L.A. Underground is? I would like to join!
