A dremel could do wonders with this...

Know ya got that, stinks ya gotta do it, but it happens.

At least you found out now instead of the launch site!!

Jim my friend that's another fine build. The trouble with gloss black is that it shows everything, and for the apple red, that's the color of choice for me also.I had the same thing happen with the rail buttons on one of my past builds.I backed them out and filed them down a bit. Then I epoxied them in far enough so they turn on the rail.

Oh dang !

Is it just a matter of unscrewing the buttons off and cutting /grinding the screws,or are they epoxied in ?

No, I don't epoxy my rail button screws anymore. I just have to put shorter ones in. This happened to me once before.

Got the nut loose. I heated it up with a pencil torch, and it came right out. After chasing the threads, I'm able to put the nut far enough in to get the bulkhead to fit tight.

Oh, by the way, watch where your torch is pointing when you set it down. Oops.

I like Jim.....I like it a lot !!

The graphix sure do make the rocket don`t they ,it`s the icing on the cake.

That rocket sure is striking visually ,very cool !

Nice work my friend

Sincerely

I like it! I like it a lot!

OK. I've got to say something. I like it! Not to often but it happens qquak2k some times we will all build a rocket that has what I call the perfect shape. You can take the rocket you've got and put any type of fin shape on it and it's going to look good. I think it's the boat tail. looks good........

And another one of Jim's superb builds rolls of the assembly line! Great work, that is a really eye popping design!

The graphics are perfect for it, love the red and black too, just an awesome job once again!!

Can't wait to see the launch footage!!!!

David

Thanks for the compliments, guys! I'm pretty happy with it overall. But the spirals are bugging me more on this one than any of my previous builds. I should have filled them. But it's too late now, and I certainly won't see the spirals on the high power pad. But I'll know they're there, darn it!

Had the same thing that bugged me on my Executioner rebuild, but in the pics, you can hardly seem and on the pad and in the air they are invisible!!

That's one thing about fiber glass, no spirals. qquake2k it only takes 30min to fiberglass that tube. Just a couple wraps of
3 0r 4oz. is all you need. Then it adds a little strength so you wont get a zipper so easy. I bet the time spent doing the fiberglass and sand would only be a hour.

Man! That thing is just plain wicked looking! The red and black are perfect, really it couldn't be any other colors, just perfect.

Now, when will this thing fly?

I like it! I like it a lot!
Jim,that's a winner!Love the nose cone's red tip.Is the Apple Red?Just painted my Red Max and used that color, you need a parachute to match the paint scheme.

Enjoyed following the thread, and really like the way your rocket turned out. Hopefully we'll get to see some launch photos / video soon:handshake:

Bill, are you a member of MTMA,we have some members from Stow,Cuyahoga Falls and from local towns around Northern Ohio.We have a launch next Saturday the 22nd.We have a field in Streetsboro.

You can really see the runs on the nose cone in this light. The paint turned out okay overall. It's certainly not my worst paint job, but it's not my best, either. I'll fix the biggest boo-boos and call it good. On the plus side, I'm very happy with the color scheme and overall look of the rocket.
Jim,I'm building a Estes Astron Sprint XL at the moment and was thinking of a different paint scheme.Would you mind if I copied yours for my build also? That's one beautiful sexy rocket.:hot:

Of course, Carl, I think it would look great!

Thanks Jim,I putting the fins on now and then the boat tail.I have to come up with a way to mask off the nose cone. We're off to Luke's first Birthday party at a local park.Wouldn't you know it,we have a 80% chance of rain and it's been raining all morning.I guess you could say the weather people were right this time.Go figure.
