Here is one set done.

The long ends need to be trimmed off using a file.

These structures will then be epoxied into each main leg of the supports.

OK ,back to the work table ........

Cheers

Thanks old chum !

Actually I`m using a high output adjustable iron and Tix & Stay Brite solder along with their liquid flux ,works well.

I would however like very much to purchase one of those mini butane torches (I`ve always meant to get one).....perhaps I`ll go do some shopping

Cheers

Paul t

that's great, I tough you Epoxy them

I got all these little buggers done ,and in they all go ,just like this.

And all the bits have been inserted and epoxied into place and ready to be attached to the ring.

These things look HUGE....but really are not that big at all......so much for ZOOM on Micro , but it works well with the flash blocked.

Cheers

Well I think I shall stop here for today.

The three main support legs are done and ready to be attached to the ring structure.I just need to drill and tap it for some very small button head screws (very small !)

Until then ,thanks as always for having a look at my project

Take care;

Thanks old friend.

Those scissors you gave me sure are getting a good workout these days ,thanks

Take care

Paul T

I knew you would like those scissors, I'm glad my friend gave me 3 of them. We've got a cheap knife sharpener that does
scissors too and it works well.
Keep up the great work Ole Chum!

I keep looking at the skill involved in this build and I keep getting impressed. My Redstone will not be NEARLY as detailed. Good going bud! But we need more!

Thanks Mason ,not really all that hard to make ,just needs patience......and at times I run a little low on this stupid thing LOL !

This is a pretty simple build as rockets go, but like I said many times, I was not looking forward to making this damn tower.

If nothing else ,I`m learning a few new building skills and techniques and several new cuss words (which is strange ,as I work on a lot of big construction sites ,where cussing goes together like coffee and donuts)...

Take care

LOL...Paul..I agree...building those darned towers is a lesson in cuss words....so far she looks fantastic....so I think your patience and cuss word technique is working well!!

Up early and time to do a little work on the old PITA tower !

Before I start on the tower uprights, I decided to countersink the back of the ring, where the support legs (pegs) will protrude ,to give more surface area for better adhesion of the parts.

Now it`s time to cut some brass tubing in various diameters......the easy part I`m thinking .

Using my scale drawings ,I cut some brass tube for the main tower uprights ,and some short brass tube sections(a larger diameter)that will slide over the mains and then soldered into place. These shorter sections are where the braces will be attached in that lovely criss cross ,lattice pattern we all love to look at

These are the top sections ,there will be a center and base tube added next. This part of the construction is going pretty quickly ,should be done in no time at all.

I`m using my Zona saw with the fine blade and a little plywood fixture to cut the brass tube ,then chuck the parts up in my cordless drill and using an Exacto blade ,ream out the inside of the tube to remove the burrs and 320 sandpaper on the outside to smooth it out and clean for soldering.

After all the tubes are soldered into place ,I`ll do the same thing using sandpaper and a small hobby file to clean up the joints.

Awesome! Just love all the metal bits going on the top of this one.

And bits there are my friend !!

I do enjoy working with metal (it`s my job/tin basher) but really like brass and aluminum ,good fun !

Take care

Personally, I don't see it... it's just an OK build I guess so far..........

I have all the connecting tubes soldered on now, just needs some clean up and a bit of filing.

That was easy enough ,but I`m glad I have the "3rd hand" gadget with the articulated alligator clips on it ,may have saved my sanity !

Hey Tim ,I appreciate that.......it`s those comments that keep me humble ,especially after reading the "snob" thread today in LP :eyepop:

I never post my crappy rockets ,and I have plenty LOL !

Take care buddy !

I wish I lived next door to you too !

That way I could get some painting done around here !!!!!!!

We are having one of the coldest springs in years ,still snow on the ground ,snow in the forecast for Sunday....highs of 34-35°F and talk of major flooding !

....I was promised global warming........LOL

Ahhhh cheese and crackers !!!!

I double posted these pics........

Time for a break !

And these are the tops.I added small brass pins/pegs,that will fit into the top brass ring (not yet made) that the rockets and tank is fastened to.

Paul T

phpSUJHIMAM.jpg

Alrighty, I did some test fitting of the support legs and soldered one on...............

That didn`t do so good a lot

Plan B......JB weld those SOBs on......that worked ! Luckily the pin and socket attachment points are a solid fit ,that`s a major bonus.

While these are setting up ,I`m going to make a jig I think I saw Gordon used ,at least I think that`s where I saw it ,as it was quite some time ago ,long before I started this build.

Anyway ,here`s the support lags in place and ready for the main tower structure.

Cheers
