I am curious as to other folks experience with "Spacecraft Films" regarding filling orders and such. After viewing their Apollo's 15, and 16 DVD sets, and already owning their Gemini Program set, I can attest to the excellent quality and content. So recently, like back in the first week in May I placed a substantial order for additional sets, Apollo 17, Mercury Program and a few others.

I paid via Paypal, and have long since had my credit card billed and paid out. Well after several emails, only two of which were responded to , plus a Snail mail letter with copies of the order and payment receipt, nothing has been happening. Of course I am well past the 45 day Paypal refund limit. But my point is I do not want the money back, I want the DVD's!

Knowing that the world economy is in a major downturn , and seeing several fine businesses fold , I was wondering about this company. So doing the Google search, I came across the "Collect Space" website, and within a forum with a few posts from customers mentioning long wait times for their orders.

I would be very interested in others opinions on this issue. Thanks for listening.

All I can add is that I never had an issue with any of the spacecraft films dvd's I ordered. They always delivered and I never had to wait or long. Granted, it's been a while since my last order.

Same here; I've always had good service. They have a FANTASTIC product!

I think that occassionally they run out of certain vids and have to wait awhile for them to be 'reprinted' so that may be part of the problem. Hopefully it's just a snafu and will be rectified soon.

Please keep us apprised of anything you find out... I'd hate to think that SF is suffering some of the same economic woes as some of our other friends in the rocket mag business...

Later! OL JR :)

Thank you KJ and Luke for your comments, I definitely will let the Forum know the results if and when this issue gets resolved.

Seems like over the years I have had a string of loses, mostly subscriptions to Magazines:

1972 Model Rocketry Magazine subscribed for a year , mag went out of business received no copies.

1991 Subscribed for two years Spaceflight News, magazine went out of business, received no copies.
Mid 1990's Subscribed to Final Frontier, magazine went out of business, received no copies.

Mid 1990's subscribed to High Power Rocketry, received a few copies, can no longer remember if completed the subscription.

Saddest of all
Subscribed for two additional years to Launch Magazine.. well you know that story :( .An unfortunate loss of an excellent magazine.

Guess I will just have to purchase any future Spaceflight or Hobby magazines at the local bookstore or hobby retailer. Sport Rocketry has been the most consistent for on time, and overall longevity of any hobby periodical I have ever purchased/subscribed to.

I have had "Mighty Saturns: Saturn V" on back order since Nov 2008. I just got an email (9/23/2009) it shipped, so there's hope yet.:y:

Wow ... now that's patience. :)
no, thats more like forgetfulness...they had not charged me for that part of my order. I wrote when the first part came in, and they said it was BO'd. Then as my friend at work likes to say, crow syndrom set in. (Caw! Shiney thing! Caw!) I got distracted and forgot about it.

Wow! that is a lot of patience! What really bothers me is the total lack of communication. Guess I will just hope that they arrive in time for Christmas, as a couple of the sets were slated as gifts! If it wasn't for the high quality of the product I think a lot of people would stop purchasing via mail order and only pick them up at their local DVD vendor.

Thank you for your comments.

I feel your pain... I'd just re-upped for another couple years to LAUNCH myself. Sorry to see them go; they had a terrific mag! Here's hoping that I'll see something back out of it, but if not, well, I've suffered worse. I'd even be happy with finishing out my subscrip with Ad Astra...

I was sorry to hear about Extreme Rocketry mag going under as well. I didn't subscribe to that one as I'm mainly LPR for now, interested in MPR but haven't flown but BP so far, so I was thinking about getting it. I used to see it in the HobbyTown USA we USED to have in Sugarland before they went under, and I'd leaf through it in there and it looked like a good mag.

I don't have any local source for mags, though... our HTUSA went under and they were the only LHS to have any mags, at least any ROCKETRY related mags. The remaining LHS's have NO rocket mags whatever and very little rocket-related stuff anyway.

Ce la vie! OL JR :)
