At the last launch I attended there was some talk about Cesaroni offering a trade in on other manufacturers (Aerotech) hardware. Does anyone have some details on this?

Not planning on ditching my AT hardware right now ; but is sounds like several folks were at that launch.

I didn't much care for the last Aerotech price increase and now that I can buy CTI Pro 29's I haven't bought an Aerotech reload since.

I'll be 2nd in line then for sure, After spending a hour cleaning my Dr Rocket 54mm case then watching my friend literally spend 40 sec cleaning his Pro54 case the choice would be a easy 1 for me.

I don't Know that its 100% true, But thats the rumor.

My vendor made the statement that it was going to be offered very soon!

You can't beat that, get rid of what you no longer use for a brand new case!

Time to go through my inventory!!

Given that CTI hardware is so comparatively cheap...at least thru 54mm...I don't forsee a lot of Aerotech motors being traded in.

You can sell a 4 grain 54mm AT motor for probby $140 on the used market. But Loki, AMW, Gorilla...yeah, that'll probby fly.

Well all I can tell you is some folks were ready to trade as soon as they burned their last AT reload or two.

I'm waiting to see what the offer actually is. Might be ready for a trade myself.

BTW if you lost a rocket ; would you rather loose cheap hardware or expensive hardware?:confused2:

Now, don't be greedy. Put your old Aerotech hardware up for sale. Many of us would be happy to pay a nice used price for the right Aerotech hardware. If there were a nice healthy used market for lower priced hardware, those who don't mind spending a few extra minutes assembling the motor would have no reason to switch.

Of course, that could be why CTI may consider taking measures to keep used cases off the market...:dark:

It took an hour to clean a 54mm AT (@fox)? Something was wrong then - it never takes me more than a few minutes. Granted, CTI 54mm are easier, but I chose motors based on performance and visual characteristics more than hardware or manufacturer. I end up flying roughly equal amounts of AT and CTI in the end.

And that too!:D

And it appears reds are due shortly in Pro29 format. Going to try one at the next launch. ;)

Now a nice green would be cool.

Perhaps this is why it seems more like a "Ford v. Chevy" or "Pepsi v. Coke" sort of thing to me. I’ve never really liked those arguments. If you prefer the way a Mustang looks over a Camero, by all means, buy that brand. If you like the sparkies of one brand, buy that brand. Perceptions and personal preferences may be a good reason for a particular purchase for an individual, but it hardly proves anything else. If 90% of the market changes its mind, that is a different story. Of course, these things tend to even out over time (and new players enter the market and change everything).

Right now, I haven't seen any "reliable" data on reliability (mainly non-anecdotal). Cost is clearly a concern, but can cut both ways. Given the economy, there is really no way to know how this will compare over time. If CTI offers more than the going rate for used hardware from other vendors, they may even end up wondering what to do with a lot of hardware from other vendors. I wonder if we could get Coke to offer two cans of Diet Coke for each can of Pepsi you turn in? That could make the economics of the cola wars interesting.

Why sweat it? Just fly what you like to fly.

Why would I trade in?

I still like my old toys though.

Me too. I still think a White Lightning is the best white. But new things to play with are nice too. And I've found a couple things in the Pro29 line that I like (skids and white tunder).

Most folks missed the point of this thread. It was to simply alert them that there was mention of a trade in. And possibly gain information on what the trade in was.

I'm not planning on slaging down my AT hardware anytime soon. Looking about I'd guess my reloads run about 60% AT 20% CTI 10% AMW 10% Loki. So I have a decent mix.
