Yes, I have the same problem once in a while. I seem to get too confident and try to do something in a hurry, then WHAM! Murphy comes back with a vengeance. :blush:

So, tell us about it...

"Screw Up" lives in my workshop and in my flight box. It usually sits quietly in an out-of-the way corner of the room, but every once in awhile, it slips out and bites me on the behind while I am working on something. I work hard to keep it under control, and try to hide its effects as best I can. But sometimes it will rebel against the restrictions and just run wild, wreaking all kinds of havoc until I can get it back into its cage.

Even my rare triumphs can be seized by Screw Up if I let my guard down. Someday I will post an account of what happened to my beautiful cloned FSI Hercules, the pride of my fleet and the nicest rocket that I have ever built, on its second flight earlier this summer. After I finish working through the grieving process for it. And I'll someday mention a great upscale that I had worked on for a year, and was right on the verge of completing, when Screw Up got hold of it a few weeks ago.

yeah!! there are times like that. times when nothing goes right, building, prepping, flying, nothing.

buzz through those times, and forget 'em - only remember the times when the glue works, the fins are aligned, the paint doesn't crinkle, the motors light, the parachute comes out, and it lands close to the pad!

She tried to say it about rocket projects too but that darned ole artilleryman's ear must have garbled the message.

My problem was getting past rocket #100. Everytime I got to having 100 flyable rockets, I would go flying and lose a few (bringing me back down below 100). Trees, lost in the sun, lawn dart - you name it.
I ping-ponged around the 100 mark for a while. I finally built several and waited to fly so I would stay over that pesky 100 mark. Finally broke the jinx:clap:

I hear you on that. I'm stuck at around 80.

I've started to make lists, to prevent my common screwups, like painting a rocket, and realizing I left off the launch lugs.

The worst is doing some touchup with the wrong paint, and ending up with a crazed mess. I now keep a notebook on rocket builds, with descriptions of all the paint brands and color names (with numbers), to hopefully prevent this from happening again.

The worst screwup ever was the rocket that wore perhaps the best paint I ever laid down, and then I added one more coat ... and realized I had picked up the can of white primer, and not the white enamel I had been using ...

There are two types of modelers. Those who screw up and those who don't admit they screw up.

I fly R/C airplanes too. Our club has an awards banquet every year in December.

We have what is known as the Screw Ball award. This is awarded to the club member who most truly represents the art of screwing up. It could be for one big goof or a series of things throughout the year in keeping with the spirit of the award. I have three of these.

I haven't screwed up any rocket in about a month. That's about the last time I touched a rocket. It was my last Fat Boy. I screwed up the paint but fixed it. Now I find myself completely unmotivated to cut all those aggrivating little spars for my Doorknob.
