I've been trying to contact Hawks both through PM on this forum and via their website to find out about converting the Super Trident to 29mm power.

The instructions say to contact them for the update (which can't be all that significant, since the rear tube seems to be a 29mm motor tube).

What's not clear are the building instructions about which steps to skip - quite frankly they don't make any sense.

I don't have the step numbers in front of me, but the first step in this section notes that it's for both the standard power and the 29mm version - that step is to make all the measurements for the "reactor" rings.

The next step - which says to skip for 29mm power - is to glue on the reactor rings. From there, it's not clear what to do and what not to do.

Of course, that doesn't make any sense as it would appear that you need to complete the gluing of the rings, as those are what mounts the 29mm tube inside the main rear airframe tube.

Just looking for some clarity on these steps, and don't want to go 24mm power for these, as I don't want to be restricted to just the few bigger 24mm loads (F32s and F35s) - for this heavier type of rocket.

And don't necessarily need to use the bigger 29mm stuff either, just to have the wider range of choice.

Interested in your input - and to hear back from the folks at Hawks!

Thanks Dale - that's kinda what I thought, but wanted to make sure there wasn't something else I was missing. The instructions aren't all that great - especially in that section!

I did get your email, sorry for the delay in getting back to you ... we updated the photos and I have been having problems sending email.

Here is the process... made for use with the Hobby line case if you want to use single use engines than you will need a different retention method.

We used the metal insert of a wiper blade for motor retention.
Cut the metal strip at 5 3/4", bend 1 end into a 1/4" “U” shaped loop as shown in the photo.
Cut slot into the motor tube as shown, slide loop into the slot and pull down.
At the other end of motor tube mark the metal strip at the edge of the tube, bend the metal strip
to a 90 degree angle at this mark.

You will need to put a notch into all the centering rings so that they will fit over the strip.

Continue assembly as in the instructions.

You will not use the included 24 mm motor mount assembly except as an adapter to fly 24mm engines.
If using the 24mm mount as an adapter make adjustments to the assembly as shown in the photo.
