Dang! Always wanted one 'o' those! Had '69 Mach 1, got to drive a friend's Cobra-what a rush! Thanks Carrol, you made the 60's the absolute BEST time in the world for us motorheads. Rest in Peace, Sir, and thank you for a life well lived.
(And he made a mean chili too!)

Carroll actually lived on bonus time for years. He had a heart transplant 20+ years back. 89 is a pretty good run, especially when you leave an automotive legacy like his. The chili, not so much. Kinda wimpy, which surprised me.

My friend Randy still owns his 1968 GT 500 with a 428 Cobra Jet and C6 auto.

The Shelby Cobra was my first "love" as far as cars go.

RIP

Yeah, we lost Joe Mondello last year. Oldsmobile Guru.

RIP Carroll Shelby.
My brother and I shared a green 67 mustang when we were 12 years old. Couldn't drive it on the roads, but drove it around our Dads 5 acers of property.
We both loved the 428 Super Cobra Jet!

He was the oldest living heart transplant recipient. I love watching the old videos about racing the cobra and GT40 at LeMans and how he both scared and pissed off Enzo Ferrari to the point of pulling strings and having a championship race cancelled. A chicken farmer really put the screws to the factory teams in the 60's.

Don't forget Bill Cosby's homage to Shelby: 200MPH! I liked how he described the speedometer: it went to "Oh Wow!"

RIP Carroll Shelby - he was one of my childhood heroes!
