Just a heads up to users of MSN's Live Hotmail.

Earlier today I received an email that appeared to be from the Live Hotmail support team saying that due to the large number of anonymous accounts being opened, random accounts were being deleted and that mine was one of them.

Furthermore, it said unless I provided my username, password, date of birth and country or territory, my account would be suspended after 24 hours for security reasons and permanently deleted after 2 weeks if no action is taken.

Is it just me or is this a load of crap!!!

Be sure to include your SSN, bank account numbers, sample of your signature, and mother's maiden name. That will help them keep you safe.

If you don't send all of the requested information and some up front good faith money, the former Nigerian government official won't be able to send you the small fortune that's been frozen in his country. :D

You mean this isn't for real?
I just signed up my Ex-wife only fifteen minutes ago!:D

...hmmmm must be a internet problem today, Bank of America wants me to confirm all my banking information with them...

I have never had an account with BoA but their email sure looks slick:cyclops:

I can tell this is most definitely a scam. Makes me wish that all the spam creators would just jump off a cliff.:bangbang:

Anyway, I checked my account info earlier and the legit Live Hotmail already has my information as I submitted it to them when I opened the account.

So if you get this or something like it, promptly delete it.;)

I have to say, I manage to avoid an amazing amount of spam somehow. I haven't had a single junk or spam email in over 2 months, and I only get a couple a year on average.

For some reason, I never received spam before, except maybe once or twice. Take note that I've been using email for about 5 years now.

That's true for me as well - I've had the same E-mail account since at least 5 or 6 years ago.

That's pretty good. I typically get between 20 and 30 a day. Of course, I have my filters turned off. Makes for some fascinating reading....

Oh, its a scam. Without even seeing it I'll be it was addressed to "Hotmail Member" rather than "Donald Besaw Jr.", correct??? :)

I get these from time to time, often from sites for which I am not even a member or client. It's amazing that they can know so much about my account status yet not know who I am... Think about it :)

Gmail catches all my spam- but my, isn't there a lot of it. About 40 a day.

Since you know its a scam, send them a message back just to mess with them. It's always great to see how long they'll try and hold onto your tail. :neener:
