I posted this rocket on yorf when I built it. Had a chance to fly it today, and it flies very well on a D12-5. Nearly straight up and it waggled it's tail a little after burnout. I got a video, but it's very poor.

The shroud between the body tube and the motor got a little scorched by hot, turbulent air, so the design could use a little work. The rear ring however, was untouched.

I remember that!

It was cool looking then and it still is now.

I'd like to see even the poor video.
 
Very nice! I remember that too, though I though you posted that over here too. How stable is it? You said it kind of wobbled after burn out.
 
very cool, and nice work on the internal Launch Lug. Reminds me a little of the Orion Nuclear Pulse Detonation rocket. Can you post the plans or at least a parts kit?
 
Thanks Jal, guys. I posted it on yorf when RF was down after it crashed.

It's very stable, just a tiny bit of tail wag after burnout on the first launch, didn't notice it on the second.

I'll post the rsim tomorrow, maybe. It's not exactly the same, but pretty close. For reference, it use BT-80 tubes and a BT80 Big Bertha style cone.

I cut the base of the cone off to allow room for the parachute. I glued a basswood former about 3" up inside the nose cone and attached a screw eye to attach the parachute.

I am guessing that NC is a "FatBoy" style & size, and the main body is BT80?
The tail-ring too, then?

That is a good data point to know about (a D motor not scorching a BT80 tailring), thanks for sharing.

(And the overall design is pretty cool too!)

I've flown a couple of boost gliders that had the motor closer to the glider and never scorched anything. The only time I had a problem was with a GG Stiletto-B, and that was only because I accidentally canted the motor a little towards the wing. My second one has had no problems. The motor is 1/2" horizontally away from the wing, and about... 8"-9" vertically away. I imagine your only problem would be some black residue buildup that is easily washed away with a damp paper towel.
