That's going to leave some big gaps in my bookmarks folder. A lot of rocket and photography fans had very useful stuff on Geocities. I wonder if they'll be forwarding for a while.
 
You mean that abomination is finally dying. It lived out its usefulness almost 10 years ago. Good riddance.
 
For those of us cheap skates out there, I just came across this site offering a rescue boat for geocities users

It offers 500MB free storage, unlimited pages for free, and some other features. You basically paste your geocites url into their form, add your email address, and they are supposed to take care of the rest.

I see references to Yola and Google Sites. All these look like you will have to use their editing tools rather than just upload your own html files. The formats for all these vaguely remind of the M$ Sharepoint crap we have to use at work now :mad:

Anybody else out there trying to go the free route?
