I just recieved a copy of the newest DVD from rocket.aero on the B-58 Hustler bomber and it's a treat. Lots of great footage of test flights as well as some old informational videos (propaganda?) put out by Convair.

As usual with the DVD's in this line (Little Joe, BOMARC, Me-163 Comet, and the MACH 2 planes- X-2 and D558) the B-58 DVD is geared to providing access to old archival footage of significant projects and planes with an eye towards modelling. Since some footage doesn't have audio, James Duffy provides an audio overview of the B-58 program as well as an alternat audio track with modelling notes.

I've just been able to scratch the surface fo the DVD content so far (it includes just about 4 hours of footage!) but what I've seen so far is excellent. The transfer of the archival footage to digital format is top notch.

If you are into the Hustler, this is a great DVD to pick up.

Thanks for the kind words, Kevin! I should mention that there is a portion of this DVD that will be of particular interest to scale rocketry enthusiasts, covering the use of the B-58 as an air-launched ballistic missile platform. If life will be incomplete until this DVD graces your bookshelf, visit our website at www.rocket.aero!

Any news on the Navajo video, James?

Navaho is still in the queue, but is proving to be a much larger project than originally planned. The finished disc will likely be in the 3-hour range, so rest assured that it will be worth the wait. Look for it in Fall '10, probably.

Next up is either an overview of '50's-era US Navy fighter jets, or a follow-on to our "Mach 2" DVD covering the Douglas X-3 Stiletto, Northrop X-4 Bantam, Bell X-5 variable-sweep aircraft, and the Ryan X-13 Vertijet. And, yes, I'm actively seeking guidance on which one of these to tackle first, so feel free to put forward an opinion!
