If I remember correctly, RF don't like Carbon fiber.:dark:
Maybe a small section of FG or use a FG nose for those up ther flights like
H250G! or shall I say, it's a great Black Rock "I" motor bird :y: and prepare to walk:cheers:

Eye bolt on motor casing-main shock cord attached to coupler/electronics- drogue shock cord attached to nose cone.

you can build something to retain your tracking device in the nose cone, and incorporate the shock cord into it, or just glue it in. 29mm electronics bay- ouch :eyepop:

Yeah... that's the standard answer, but this little baby is gonna take more innovation than that to get max performance out these tiny spaces.

Smaller motors should be flown motor eject with altimeter to record. no can do eyebolt to case, etc.etc. etc.

The NC is graphite, but internally tiny, don't think a tracker will fit, but I'm SURE somebody will do it. That's what I want to see, innovation!

You can always have the antenna pocking out of the ebay, so its exposed when the chutes are deployed

On the Mongoose kit the nosecone is NOT CF. In fact I tested this with my BigRedBee and had posted it prior to the board corruption and data loss.

Yes, your are right. The mongoose kits nose cones are carbon- graphite. carbon fibre is different. This blackhawk 29mm kit has "6 to 1 conical Graphite NC." so it will be transparent to RF and work fine, just like the mongoose.

I'll be at Bong tomorrow [Sat] if anyone wants to test fly it. Stop by the Wildman trailer to find me.

Hi Al, How much are those and the receiver to go with it? Didn't see very much info on the site. Will a rocket hunter receive the signal?

It was off to Bong Sat. and time to do some more testing.
Went for the extreme low end and loaded up an Estes d-12-5. I was very windy 10-15. But the little black bandit held it's own, it only got around 250-300ft., deployed right on time and came back safe and sound.

So now we know...If built light like this one...it will fly on black powder D motors. I would consider this the bottom limit for safety.

Next up the other end of the motor spectrum. Maybe a H or I.

How 'bout it NAR guys, now you got low power carbon fiber rocket to play with!

All I can say is your butt better be in O'burg on the 17th! :D I wanna see this thing in person!:p

Hmmmm a "D", "OK" now lets hear about the I-200 ride, I just know you did it, fessup now!!!:y:

Ya busted me out Don,I was gonna leave them hanging till tomorrow.

Well after I flew my Wildman Xtreme 3in to 10,000ft on a KBA K-1750...440lbs of thrust........

Tim throws me an I-200 and tell me since I'm all warmed up , to fly the Blackbird on a I-200. Caveman style. [Motor eject] Didn't have to ask me twice. Figured we already saw how small we could go, let's just skip all the ones in between and go for the largest motor on hand!

Kind of fitting that the case was one of the black and red marbleized ones from LDRS at Orangeburg, my home field.Soooooo......

.....Had to remove my tracker from it's case to barely fit it in the Blackhawk. Taped it about 3inches down from the NC on the shock cord and stuck the tail of the antenna into the NC. Had a great signal.

So that puts the signal in the NC problem to rest!
Slipped the motor in, after replacing the stock delay with a long one taped by the way, and off to the pad.

Bang it's off to the races..... QUICK....nice super straight boost, you could see the mach transition wiggle right at burnout, [at least 3-4000]then up and up and up it coasted. Tracking smoke long gone then the white "puff" the ejection fired.

At worst case 5500-6000 [there had just been flights that high and higher to judge by] But judging by the 6 minutes it took to hit the ground more like 7-8000 ft. And that's the sims.
Tim followed it in the air for over a minute with the tracker angle not budging, so we jumped in the truck and drove 1.3 miles before the signal strength plummeted and we knew it was grounded. I had been keeping track of the time.
Even with the tiny 12 in. chute it was about 1.4 mi from the pads and took about 30 minutes to find. Guess it wasn't that bad considering the thrill we had doing it.
And after all we did fly it motor eject at the top!

Tim also flew the Wildman Jr fincan with the nose cone on it today. On a...............J-570!........motor eject......streamer......color it gone. That one took about 45min to find with the tracker. Not bad really considering the insane ride up it took. We never saw it after burn out.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention on my flight to 10 large , the main never came out.
Even though I was drogue less, there was NO damage to the Wildman Xtreme 3in. after free falling almost 2 miles.

Now if I remember correctly, your Nick is CRAZY JIM, That's expected that you do both under and over power, one must live up to their Rep.:neener:

Heck I'm waiting for a 38mm "J" report, and that's for a 29mm MIN dia. motor mount. :bangpan: and somehow Duct tape will be involved

It was only a matter of time....staring at it....wondering how much better it would look clear coated. Especially after seeing Don's Wildman Jr.

So I went ahead and did it, oh my! It's so shiny I played heck getting a photo without the glare.
Just lightly sanded with 400 and several light coats of Dupli Color auto clear.

Came out far beyond my expectations. Still not done yet.Have to add the visuals....

Looks great! I love how CF looks when its cleared.

Ahhhh, keeping up with the Jones, hahahaha

very nice, very nice indeed! I too love the look of CF clear coated.

After the I200 flight, I think anything short of another I200 will be pretty anticlimactic.

"Final note.... in my latest build frenzy, I just finished "THE CHERRY BOMB" a Xtreme Wildman 4in. Build thread in the works! Teaser on that......."

Would you be so kind as to give proper photo credit to the photographer???

"Thank you for the great shots you took of Cherry Bomb at Bong and I used in the above post."

I didnt take the photos, my dad Tom did. I take video, I produce video, I don't have digital still cameras. My dad was kind enough to burn those pictures to CD and sent them to Tim for use on the Wildman website. They were not intended for message board use. Why don't you see that Tim gets that CD back for which it was intended...

Pictures removed, references removed, comments removed. Sorry if I offended. Never had Cd...... just a pic of my rocket. It's in Tims possesion .

A 29mm electronics bay is very do-able. Here's an e-bay that fit into a 24mm coupler inside a 29mm nosecone, including Parrot altimeter, Beeline transmitter, and all batteries:
