Definitely stacked. The length is too variable muskrat-to-muskrat to be reliable unit. However, it is critical for stacking accuracy to alternate which direction the head end of the pelt goes. There are slight differences in thickness between head and tail, so if you always stack them the same way, you'll get accumulated errors. You should also not cross-stack them (head to the previous pelt's side) or all kinds of heck will break loose.

I know that this seems a little hard at first, but if you can manage measuring weight in stone and beer in pints, I'm sure you can figure out muskrat pelts. :D
Pish-tosh. That's all historical. The weights and measures act of 1948 established the standard muskrat pelt (PTH) as exactly 481 pelts to 100 inches (the value you stated). Yes, it is based on the thickness, obviously, as opposed to the now depreciated length-based unit (PLE). (Because PLE is depreciated, it is common to simply use P for the pelt, the subscript being unnecessary.) All the rest is historical background, no longer relevant to actually measuring things. The PLE was approximately 4.97 inches, which is coincidentally close to the reciprocal of the official 481:100, leading to the common misconception that it was in fact the reciprocal.

Yep, love North Texas weather. Just a pure delight...I can't even find all of it. This is a recurrent problem side that is getting replaced in a few weeks, so at least there is that...now to get the duct tape and plastic sheeting to cover it until then.

Used my home-made bearing extractor and press set to swap bearings in the bottom bracket of my trainer bike. Had 10k miles on these bearings and this is also my nasty weather bike, so water was surely a factor. Tore apart an old bearing and the balls looked ok, but the race was clearly deepened as there was a ton of slop in the bearing. Also made a horrid noise under higher loads. Bike back together, and put on a new chain while I was at it.

Thank you for the reminder I need new pulleys in the RD of one of my commuter bikes. I couldn't remember what I was forgetting to purchase this morning....and that was it. I threw a new chain on the old beater last night and the pulleys are absolutely toast.

I may just print them and get some bearings....probably cheaper.

I went on a solo mountain bike ride today. I rode every trail in our park except for Moron, Bloody Gorge, and Bent Fork. I know nobody here knows these trails, but the names should be self explanatory.

I hardly ever get to ride my myself anymore, and that's okay. Teaching my son to ride and watching his skills grow is immensely rewarding, but my endurance and nerves are suffering a little. That will come back when he's ready for more advanced trails.

I skipped the jump line too today. Maybe next time. Those are the small ones. After a golf ball sizes swollen wrist on a larger step-up, I rarely attempt jumps taller than me. I don't bounce like I used to.

I need to visit you so we can ride!

Finally unloaded the car after ROC. Dismal showing. Wind ate my pop-up and dinged my buddies new SUV. Wind also knocked over a tripod a gent named David was using with a super zoomie camera to catch my test flight. Slomo, tracking, panoramic, etc. Never seen him before, but he bought a motor from AMW. Seems like a good chap of sorts. No harm, no foul. Lots of level 1 certs and a ton of STEM Students. Rocked our normally quiet May launches. Unpacked my new Eggfinder mini from Cris. The madness continues. No film at 11, no truth to the fact I made a porn star blush. Launch review unprintable. Let's just say the only liftoff I had was my shelter. New ignitors coming. If Val sells his ignitor kits, get one. Not the same old, same old.

So I gathered I missed nothing last Saturday? (The 13th?)

Fort Wayne is a good place to be a mountain biker. We have a good park in town and another great trail an hour away in my hometown of Winona Lake. If you want to make a day trip. Brown County State Park in Southern Indiana and Rays MTB in Cleveland are legenday rides and close enough to come home the same day. Last. If you're really adventurous, Pisgah is only an 8 hour drive.

Day 27... tomorrow of course is day 28... ARRGGGHHHH!!! For God's sake, will these 'anniversaries' EVER get better?

My amazing sister is now home back east. Yep. I miss her too. But at least 10 times today day something triggers me getting choked up. Today it was taking bath towels and donating them to the local Animal Hospital. Funny... Like a sign from her, there was a message on the door, "Please we need donated towels". I know its just wishful thinking, but it helps to believe she was right there telling me, "Good on you!"

Then I took some clothes to Uptown Cheapskate. Now I know why it is named that way. I brought 30 items never worn. Just the tags were not on them. They texted me, "We'll take 3 items for $13. Come get the rest." I cried. Then thought bad thoughts (NOT TO WORRY, I am NOT like the violent looney tunes that seem to have taken over in this country!!!) I'll get my $13 bucks and donated the rest to Goodwill. All is well.

I sent my sister some clothes she thought she could use via UPS. I deflated, folded, and packed the air matress she was sleeping on. Wash those sheets and blankets.

Fixed the Keurig by watching a youtube video and using a paperclip. Went to Total Wine and More and got some 'less expensive' single malt.

Dredged up the unused InstaPot from a sealed bin in the garage. She never got to use it. 😭 😥 Now I need to figure out my first ever, "I cooked it" insta-pot meal.

That is about it. Persistent marine layer all day or I'd have taken a walk to the beach.
Thanks for reading this, such as it is.

One foot in front of the other.

Yeah, we miss the Ray's that was here in MKE. So fun. Brown County is definitely on the short list for us to get to.

My son is itching to ride Brown County, so we'll get down there sometime this Summer or Fall. You probably have seen the videos, Schooner Trace is stupid hard. My first and only attempt involved my riding buddy falling, rolling down a hill and fortunately only spraining his ankle. I couldn't even get down to him, so I had to follow the trail to a fireroad and get help from the rest of the crew.

Wishful thinking, eh? I think it's something else.

Anyhoo, not foisting my beliefs on anyone else. Just be open to that possibility.

I went to my nearby CVS Pharmacy, straight to the back, where the Pharmacists’ high counter is located. I took out my little brown bottle, along with a teaspoon, and set them up on the counter.

The Pharmacist came over, smiled, and asked if he could help me.

I said, "Yes! Could you please taste this for me?"

Seeing a senior citizen, the Pharmacist went along. He took the spoon, put a tiny bit of the liquid on it, put it on his tongue and swilled it around.
Then, with a stomach-churning look on his face, he spat it out on the floor and began coughing. When he finally was finished, I looked him right in the eye and asked, “Now, does that taste sweet to you?

The Pharmacist, shaking his head back and forth with a venomous look in his eyes yelled, “HELL NO!!!"

I said, "Oh, thank God! That's a real relief! My doctor told me to have a Pharmacist test my urine for sugar!"

I can never go back to that CVS, but I really don't care, because they aren't very friendly there anymore!

I'm just hanging out inside while waiting for the smoke to die down in my area. This is a legitimate use for wearing an N95 mask outdoors. Here is a website with an aerial view of forest fire particulate in Canada. A wave of particulate went threw my area last night and blew down into the US. I thank God that I am not in the north where thousands of people have been evacuated because of fire threatening their communities.

Really? You sure that doesn't belong here?
