I would like to attend a space shuttle launch this summer.
STS-127 or STS-128.
As of now my plans are to get a ticket by way of Orlando-tours.
Any helpfull tips?

To get my causeway viewing for STS-125 I picked up tickets by trying to call, and pulling up the website at the moment things went on sale. The phone was always busy and website was slow. I found getting a meal with an astronaut with causeway viewing tickets was the way to go. I saw for 30 minutes after the causeway only tickets were sold out, the meal and viewing tickets were still available.

you can get pretty good viewing all along the Indian River in Titusville at the beaches in Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral. And for the most part it is free, some places charge a few bucks for parking. Granted it's not as nice as the causeway inside KSC but a good view none the less. Be warned traffic will be a mess, so if you are driving make sure you have a full tank and maps of Brevard county and a navigator so you can stick to the side streets.

There's no doubt that the causeway is the best place for the general public to view a shuttle launch. There's no seating (for regular folks) along the causeway, so bring along a "collapsible umbrella-style chair" and/or a blanket. Bring a camera, of course, but don't get caught up with taking photos or videos during the actual launch. Watch it with your own eyes instead of through a viewfinder. You'll be able to see video and photos of the launch on the Internet later.

Be aware of the risk if the flight is scrubbed. If the launch is scrubbed after they take you to the viewing site, you won't get a refund and will have to purchase a ticket for the next attempt if you wish to view it from the causdeway.

I usually watch the launches from my front yard. :)

But, when we do drive over, we usually visit Spaceview Park. It's right across from the launch pads.
