Cape Byron Rocketry Brumby (Goony Vostok).

Started construction before remembering to take pictures.
Nose cone shoulder shortened, screw eye, backing plate, and bulkhead dry fitted.
Clay nose cone weight tamped in. Securing the clay and bulkhead with epoxy is next.

The two part fins were glued and left to dry overnight.

Ozzie rocket, so using an Ozzie wood filler to fill the seams in the box cuts.

Rest of the parts.

Deciding on the colors.
Vostok rocket in a display

Actual Vostok launch

Gray and white is more accurate, but hey, this is a Goonie.
So I'm going with all white. Plus the decals will pop more.
Nothing to do with being easier. ;)

Motor mount glued in.
Launch lugs on.
Everything filleted.
CWF brushed on fins and spirals then sanded down.
Recovery gear assembled.
Oh, and nose weight and bulkhead epoxied in.

Next: White primer and sanding (again).
I hate sanding.

So I saw this on EBay and had to give it a burl.
There was one extra part, it looked like a coupler but too small for BT-60.
It was a little bigger than a BT-55.
But rather than starting a private chin wag with Mal and have him listen to my ear bashing I just tossed it.*

burl: a try
chin wag: a conversation
ear bashing: non stop chatter

What was the extra part? Something embarrassing?

The piece of cardboard tube the instructions were in?

BTW, good Aussie English my friend.

The Decals are just Inkjet on clear testors decal paper, from Hobby Lobby. They work because the rocket is white.
mikeyd: Sorry, but just today saw this post. Is not Inkjet incompatible with water, as it readily 'runs'? Can one instead use a laser printer (color, or only B/W?) on this [clear waterslide] medium?

It works, but it needs to be clearcoated before use. Testors produced a product called Decal Bonder that I had a decent amount of success with. Micro-Sol also has a clearcoat spray that works with the commercially available inkjet paper.
