I know this has been done before, but I want an update thread with supply chain issues.

What lipo do you use:

RRC2:
RRC3:
Stratologger CF:
Marsa:
Altus:
Eggtimer:


The bottom line is I will not go hours to name them. Name the altimeter and battery, and I'll add them to this post.
I use the RRC2, RRC3, StrattologgerCF and the eggtimer altimeters. I use this one for all of them.

I've had lots of success using the listed LiPos with the following altimeters.
RRC3: Venom Fly 7.4V 430 mAH or 300 mAH
Eggtimer Quantum: Venom Fly 7.4V 430 mAH and 300 mAH, Crazepony 7.4V 400 mAH.

For Eggtimers and Eggfinders:
300 to 400mHa 2S LiPo with high C discharge rating (this ensures it will deliever the Current requesed to fire ematch or igniter).
I use 300mAh nano-tech but also other brands with similar specs.
 
SLCF: E-Flite EFLB1202S20 LiPo Battery 120mAh 2S 7.4V 20C

(found three NIB even though they've been discontinued for some time, I've not had any issues with charging/capacity so far (Powerlab 8 charger))
 
I have Perfectflite CFs, SL100 and HiALT45. I only use 9VDC batteries for altimeters, never LiPos

I think you miss the point of using Lipo - they are rechargeable and weight less. A 9V will not even fit in one of smaller rockets.
 
Could the stratologger work with a 1S battery? I saw this question from the past.

I understand about using them in small rockets. I don't have anything that small. I opt for 9V because they are NOT rechargeable and last several years in an av-bay before dropping to 8.9V. Since I seldom open my av-bays, that works much better for me.
 
There are also a number of smaller RC airplane/quadcoper on-line stores that have small 2S LiPos.
A google search should find a few.

I do buy LiPo's from Adafrut but if I remember they only have 1S which I use in small rockets with DD since I can get two on the back of the ebay sled wired in series.
These have a different connector so be sure to buy some of the mating connectors with leads from Adafrut when you buy the LiPos. They also have some nice 1S LiPo chargers that are powered from USB.

Two things I like about this (vs most other small 2s batteries)
1) the standard XT60 connection. this is such a ubiquidous connector, you can find converters, or make your own so you don't have to cut the wires coming off the battery if you don't have the proper connector for your altimeter/gps/computer/etc...
2) The discharge rate - 50C !! Has no problem even the largest airstart motor starters.

All those other batteries will work fine.
I did check the discharge rating on the LiFe and it is 20C so 16Amp and will fire any ematch or igniter.
