How do you use this thing?? Can't get it to connect with my phone, HC-06 comes up in the menu, but will not connect. Android phone, using rocket locator ap.

Yes they are.
Yup, tried that also. Even tried the wife's phone. The base station will not connect to any phone. Hc-06 comes up in paired device, but when you click on it, does not even try to connect.

Have you tried the "Bluetooth GPS" app? Sometimes some of the other apps, for whatever reason, will not link with the HC-06.
I don't know if it's an app based or phone based issue, but the "Bluetooth GPS" app seems to work with the T3 tracker no matter the phone.
Here is my start up sequence for the T3. Pay special attention to the aterisk - it is what solved my problems (similar to what you describe.)

- Power up transmitter (rocket unit)
- Power up receiver (base unit)
- Pair phone to T3 (PIN 1234) *
- Open up Rocket Locator
- In Rocket Locator, use map to verify phone location (blue dot)
- Listen for beeps from app, and watch for solid Bluetooth module LED on receiver
- If no beeps/steady light, then (in rocket locator) settings->restart BlueGPS
- Verify transmitter location (red pin). There's a white line connecting the pin and your dot

This is the same issue that you might see with an Eggfinder RX-Bluetooth. If you have a similar device defined on your phone, it will assume that it's connecting to that device, and won't actually connect. You have to unpair the device, then reconnect to your new device (it may show up as "HC04" or something like that). Follow _kestrel_'s steps above... and it should work.
Have tried to unpair. RX lights always blink (not connected). Never get a red pin (rocket). Have restarted blue gps. Have used PIN 1234. Have not tried Bluetooth GPS, but am going to try it now. Thanks.
Shoot! I was hoping that would help you out. What you described is exactly what mine was doing. What version of Android is your phone on? Maybe I can try to replicate what you are seeing with my T3 and any of the various Android versions we have here in my household.

If you are a Tripoli member, and like to read, there is an old post on their FB page between me and Jimmy Burgess; July 26, 2020.
You should be able to find it quickly by searching for "Bluetooth GPS". Jimmy started the thread.
He had similar issues. Once he got on Bluetooth GPS we were able to confirm the T3 worked fine. I think there are some helpful
comments when you try Bluetooth GPS for the first time.
You can also work with the VisualGPS program to link to your T3 base unit.
Just got it to work. Had to go into rocket locator settings and choose "actual bluethooth device". Well at least it work in the basement

Think about the LiPo battery size you want for the transmitter unit in the rocket. The LiPo battery info
in the T3's manual is spot on as to how long it will last. So use that as a gauge for the battery (mAh) size.
Be sure to turn on the transmitter unit before you head out to the pad. You may be worried about power
consumption, but the GPS module will have that additional time to pick up more satellites.
I have limited room In NC. 500 mah is what I have.

Just under 3 hours of run time on the transmitter. You should be fine as long as you're not expecting launches that
would put your rocket a few miles away from the pad.
Thanks. But we have huge turnouts of flyers. College teams and Boy Scouts, sometimes the rocket sits on the pad for quite sometime. Not 3 hours though.
