Back into the hobby now that retired. i decided to try sewing my 500 lb. Kevlar cord coming from motor mount with the 100 lb. cord running to the nose cone/parachute. Then a dab of super glue and topped with some heat shrink. Photos show the sequence.

I’ll see how it performs. Appreciate and feedback.

Jack

At a guess, this would be a pretty good application for an Albright knot.

Super glue makes it pretty stuff & somewhat brittle. I like to use white glue and flexible cloth medical tape.

Can I have more info on Kevlar and CA glue bring a problem? I know it gets stiff but can live with that.
In many Kevlar shock cords, it wicks through the cord, getting CA where you don't want it. And you don't want it on your Kevlar because it makes them stiff and creates "flexing bottlenecks" where some flexing movements get concentrated, leading to greater wear at a specific point of the cord. On top of that, the dried CA glue will creates tiny bits of dust, which will act as mini grinders, which will further increase the wear on the Kevlar fibers.

CA is useful to keep the ends from fraying, but I agree it should be avoided at any point that will be stressed.

What I do to cut it is mark the length, put a drop of CA at the mark and let it cure. Then cut at that point. You should end up with two "shoelace" ends that won't fray.

As far as joining, knots work really well. The bowline is a favorite for attaching the bridle to metal hardware.
Googling suggests that the "double fisherman's knot" is the go-to for joining two lines, but I don't have experience with it.
