A friend of mine needs to buy 2nd graders books from the US to teach her soon to be 8 year old daughter in China. I wonder if you know any means to get these books. Books mainly on Math and English.

I’m not sure I understand the problem. What about kindle books? Do you need specific books or would any available English language 2nd grade math and English textbooks be acceptable. Is the problem financial (affording the books) or one of shipping?

I don't know what textbooks 2nd and 3rd grade American kids are using in their schools. It's my understanding that the girl involved is American born, and the parents want to make sure that there is a link back to the States.

Why don’t they just contact some board of education from any public school district in the states?

I don't know... I'm just relaying the message, and seeing if there's anything I can offer them.

My wife is a retired teacher with friends still working. I’ll ask her to find out what they’re doing.

I'll just throw out a caution that there are a lot of textbooks out there, and lots of people have very strong feelings about what makes a good textbook/curricular approach. What's great for one person/parent may be awful for another.

My wife is a school administrator. Cache district uses Go Math, Into Reading, Saxon Phonics. I'll have to ask her again what others. There's a handful they use. Nationally, there are truckloads of programs and people trying to sell them to the district on why their program is better than the next
