EDIT: AP and magnallium are gone.

Clearing out stuff surplus to my needs. Can't ship so will be at NARAM for part of Friday evening, all day Saturday, and Sunday until noon or a bit later. I'll hold them if prepaid, otherwise first come first served. Cash or Paypal. Please PM for details.

Ammonium perchlorate, 200 micron rotary rounded, free flowing. 5 lb for $100, 10 lb for $180

Ammonium perchlorate, was 200 micron but now hard-caked from moisture. Old stuff but AP is quite stable for decades. Must be milled or rubbed thru a screen. About 20 lb available, $8/lb.

Ammonium perchlorate, typical Firefox product: old, caked, with free floor sweepings. :( 10 lb for $50.

Potassium nitrate, greenhouse grade, about 30 lb available, $3/lb. (10 lb bag $30)

Aluminum -400 mesh, free flowing, 4 lb for $30

Magnesium, -20 +200 mesh flake, 2 lb for $20.

Magnallium (Mg/Al alloy), -100 mesh, $10/lb (not sure how much is in the can)

Titanium chips, around 20-40 mesh, $10/lb

Also still have 38 mm paper casting/phenolic liner sets, 36" long, 5 sets $50. Casting plugs and centering plugs available.

Best -- Terry

If I bump into you there I might pick up some of that KNO3... I'm having the darndest time finding it around here and just like having it on hand. I got this smelly stump remover stuff that appears to produce no oxygen at all when heated while trying to make some candy fuses to test my charge wells. (making them from 45ACP casings, it was quite fun testing them for integrity)

edit: I ended up making fuses with black powder instead, worked just fine.

Question on the aluminum..... is oxidation something that we worry about with this stuff? I'm not planning on casting perchlorate motors anytime soon but that's something that has always kind of bugged me about mixing aluminum as a fuel.

No it's not -at least for powders in the micron range (as opposed to nano). The oxide coating is actually a safety feature of Al. For more reactive metals, it's not enough protection in itself to stop the oxidizer reacting with them, but for Al it is.

Cool, just something I've always thought about if it would act as a passivation layer of some kind to slow the reaction during the burn, especially with smaller pieces. Like if the metal would somehow need to be ground moments prior to mixing or something like that.

For APCP there's plenty of energy within the chamber to either melt the oxide layer or crack it open/apart pretty rapidly. For many propellants utilising lower energy oxidizers, it certainly is an issue that can often result in the layer effectively acting as an inhibitor.
