Today, repairing damaged rockets, mostly broken fins, crumpled/burnt body tubes, broken shock cords, the usual.
Yesterday/last night I assembled an Estes Sidekick. Fun build, easier than it looked.
2 motor cluster, looking forward to sending it up.

Finished preparing the Fliskit Thunderbird parts for priming.

Some people say one should glue everything together before painting because the glue should be in contact with the material and not the paint. And that certainly makes sense. But I like to prime before gluing because I might have to pass the sanding sponge and sanding is much easier on a part than on a completed rocket.

Maidened a Madcow 4" Patriot at Metra in NY on an I600. Incredible boost, but had both dd chutes deploy at apogee due to adding more nose weight last minute without increasing the amount of shear pins. Currently in the process of retrieving (wish me luck).

Well let us pray... ooops I forgot that I don't do that... I mean let us see...
I found these fins in my wood pile... I have zero idea where I got them.
So I did what any born again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and yet again, rocketeer would do

I created an ORK file - Its called WIP1 because I had to give it some name while RS kept crashing. So Work In Progress it is.

Finally... I glued together the transition and nose for a TAU style nose cone for a BT60 tube for a future build - the one on the left
I rounded the leading edges of the RedTop fins and soaked the tail fins in thin CA.
Last but not least I converted/imported a bunch of my old old old (like 6 or more years ago, RockSim files to OR. I need to followed Neils tutorials to learn even more. I think I will start a new thread:
Jeff's Designs WITH OpenRocket FILES!!!! (Hello!!!) :p :welcome:

I'm toying with putting the Holverson Designs engine hook machine on eBay before NARAM or not. I'm also fighting with whether to make it pick-up only or deliver it to NARAM. If I deliver it, I'd be driving a 24 year old pickup with 154000 miles that I don't totally trust. Plus this thing is way boat anchor.

I cut out and sanded the fins for the current project. Marked the body tube for the fin slots and rail buttons. Cut out the fin slots. I installed the motor mount. Not much but it's a start.

With what? An 'A-1/64th-0'?
Micromaxx NE motor. Maybe like the dart on a Super Loki.

Oh, the tedium. Working on the fin details on a Rocketarium Black Brant IV B
Spent more time sanding bevels on the fin details than on assembling the entire rest of the rocket.
An emery stick comes in useful.

Laters.

Warmed up the credit card a bit. Got the email from GLR, Talon 4 back in stock.
tomorrow the piggy bank full of quarters gets taken to the bank to pay the credit card.

Created a headed for the "Range Checklist LPR/MPR".

Basically, items I need to load into my pickup truck when we are headed to the rocketry range.

This was my wife's idea, and it's a good one.

FYI: The "Fleet Sheet" is a summary sheet for rockets I have built.Range Checklist.jpgFleet Sheet .jpg

I started three Silver Hawk IIs. I finalized the aileron servo and linkages on the Strato-Blaster. I learned more about Taranis Qx7 and how to program it and bound it for a few RCBGs. Except for a Radiomaster R84 RX. Any tips on getting that to work?

Rocketry adjunct (I think) I drove the "Rocket Car" to the convenience store. It got a good bit of attention.

Update: I got the Radiomaster to bind by copying settings off another BG. But the elevators are working backwards at both 100% and -100% weight.

I wrapped the BT with vinyl on the current project. I cut out the fin slots first. Then I cut the vinyl away from the slots. I cut enough away to expose the BT underneath. I applied some JB Quick Weld to the fin roots and placed them in the slots. I made a jig with a template from PayloadBay to hold the fins in place. 5 minutes later the fins are solid. Next up will be interior and exterior filets. The only thing left after that will be to put the rear CR on.

This whole weekend was productive. I roughed up the fin/bodytube joint for external fillets , assembled the altimeter bay all in the Magnum. Next up for that are epoxy on the underneath side of the Ubolts on the bulkheads, test fit the altimeter bay again now that the humidity had dropped, and then do the external fillets on the fins. This way, I can have the whole rocket together and it'll make doing the fillets easier.

Yesterday, I put together my Miss Riley. I'm satisfied with how it came out. I'm looking at a September flight on that at the high power field, that way I should get it back nicely.

Go into output or mix menu and tick the invert box that should reverse servo.
If you have two servos you might need to change the slave too.
Do you have 4-1 multi rf? In your QX7?
If so make sure its switched on and set it for
Frsky d-8 or d-16

Trying to decide between the 4” SBR Thor and the Apogee Katana…the Katana comes with more “stuff” in the box for a lower price, but the Thor looks amazing….(first world problems…)
