We did some road trippin' in Idaho and I found some inspiration for a new scratch build.

I remember watching Evel on TV in 1974 and it was way cool then, and actually getting to visit the site was way cool now.

Standing on top of the ramp you get a feel for the amount of nerve it took to climb into the scratch built X-2.

I'm thinking a scale scratch build model of the X2, that uses my rocket sled track, would be a fun build.

That event underlined the fact that you can't hold a deadman switch when you get hit with over 10 G's in a launch.
Our Flat earth-steam rocket pioneer should have learned from that, he died from the same problem.

Not according to the video of the launch and the Engineer, Bob Truax, that designed and analyzed the failure.

Did you guys ever see this? Back in 2017, pro stuntman Eddie Braun built a duplicate of Evel's Skycycle with the help of Bob Truax's son and made the flight across Snake River as a tribute to Evel.

It was just awesome. To be honest, being a huge Evel Knievel fan as a kid and having watched Evel Knievel's attempt live, I got a bit choked up...

Here are a few videos of the jump:

This one was posted by Rocketman, but they dubbed in an awful, terribly annoying little song over it, so you may want to just mute the sound. You have been warned...

Thanks for posting these.

The last video, Eddie Braun appears like it's just another day at work, calm and collected. He gives a "thumbs up" to the camera, during the flight.

The guys got ice water running through his veins.
