So…
As Prefect of QCRC, I would like to thank everyone who came out to fly this weekend. I only managed to fly one rocket of my own, but I pushed the button on a LOT of yours, so I think I’ll count those as well. I had a great time, got a little sunburned, and am a little tired. But seeing everyone have so much fun makes it all worthwhile.
Congratulations to Mr Jim Fields on his successful L3 launch. And to Rob W(I’ll murder his last name…) and Brian J on successful L2’s. A bunch of college kids had successful L1’s with impeccable delay drilling mentoring from @GRIFFIN.
And today a successful college launch of a 6” rocket on a N5600…
Good times.
Let’s do it again next year!

Thank you for the awesome pictures Justin. My boys and I were glad to see us and our two rockets in the pictures. I was kinda also looking for the picture of the mouse crawling around on one of the speakers. Lol! Someone took a picture of it but I'm not sure who it was.

We had a great time and as always glad to see everyone.

One other thing I think I should mention...
The creativeness of people is always interesting. Max (crap, forgot his last name...) made an interesting scratch built Jart. I'm sure you've all heard about MAC Performance canvas phenolic. Well, Max thought outside the Gap and came up with Denim phenolic. Made his own tubes and fins using Denim (yeah, the stuff your jeans are made of) cloth. Looked neat and flew perfect with a good recovery. Nicely done!

Onboard video of my Extreme Wildman.

Had a very strange in-flight anomaly where the booster plowed into the payload section just forward of the switch band. It did so with such force that it destroyed the Additive Engineering sled (turned it into legos), destroyed a Schurter switch killing one RRC3's power, and the other altimeter looks to be a write-off due to impact damage; broken PCB and a dislodged MOSFET. The impact was so hard that it not only caused a slight delamination of the payload airframe at the impact site, but also a delamination of the COUPLER of the AV bay. Thats nearly an 1/8" of fiberglass that was affected.

Both altimeters were rendered inoperable by the impact and the rocket fell in separated form from 14k. The impact was so hard that it caused my Mobius Mini HD camera to stop recording video and only record audio. After a power cycle, the one altimeter and the camera both work just fine and data was recovered from both. I was also flying an EggFinder GPS tracker in the NC and the flat plane antenna on the GPS receiver was sheared clean off and it's now rattling around in the NC. Though, I am not sure if that happened at apogee as I had GPS lock and downlink to the LCD until at one point the GPS lock went completely away but the RF link remained intact. So, I think that happened after landing.

Rocket was recovered with the help of Justin about 30min later.

What does the rest of the rocket look like after falling from 14K'?

I could have reflown it in the time it would have taken to cobble together the shattered electronics sled with some 6min epoxy, swap over another altimeter, load up ejection charges, and assemble another motor.

Zero damage that would prevent flying it again, just some frayed fiberglass edges is all. That can be cleaned up with a file, sand paper and some 6min JB Weld. Nothing structural was damaged.

I REALLY like flying fiberglass after this weekend. Last year at MMWP, my Minie Magg and Iroc both got their chutes tangled and came in flat. Both had decent damage that required new sleds, fin/airframe repair with glass/epoxy, and a partial and full repaint. The Iroc that was repaired and got a new paint job was the Glory to Ukraine tribute rocket I flew on Saturday. If they would have been fiberglass, I could have dusted them off and reflown them same day.
